Why? Iran had no structure, no strategy, and looked inept.

The players are there but the coaching still isn't at this level. Instilling an inferiority complex against the mighty Morocco is not a recipe for future success.

Playing for a scoreless draw in every game you coach at the World Cup isn't hard to do. Even the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup, Trinidad & Tobago, did it rather easily. Are we on their level too?

Hajsafi 9: probably one of our best players today.
Ebrahimi 8 : great defensively if not pretty invisible.
Shojaei 5: another yellow, giving the ball away on multiple occasions. Probably explains why CQ took him off.
Ansarifard 8: was one of the TOP runners on the team today.
Amiri 7: kind of invisible.
Jahanbakhsh 6: also invisible but I don't blame him, the ball didn't get to him much!

I actually thought Azmoun was very good, except he looked too tired to press the Moroccan defenders sometimes. But good at seating deep and trying to make the whole team go up the field when he managed to get the ball. Should have scored on his opportunity, but who knows maybe we wouldn't have won in the end if he had scored, so I'm glad he didn't!

Morocco is better than us technically and physically but Queiroz outplayed them mentally. The Azmoun shot at the end of the first half hit them hard as they suddenly realised not only they're not sure to score but they can even lose. If they had scored in the first 30 mins the story could have been much different though.

I've been hard on Beiranvand before, but a 10 today. 2 Great saves, good and decisive decisions coming out of goal, and NO stupid dribling/passing at the back. Aside from the the bend don't break 1st 20 minutes of defense a great job. The lack of legionnaire play (AKA lack of offense), I think, was because a lack of good service to them by the defenders/DMs (this worries me for the next 2 games).
BTW props to Azmoun for playing all 96 minutes, anyone else surprised by that?
Oh yeah, and 10 for Querioz (like how the Fox commentator calling him Keyrosh), who continues to (pleasantly) surprise.
