I don't know what Egyptians you've come across, but no Egyptian that I know (myself included) ever refer to ourselves as Arab - let alone proudly. Any Egyptian who does say that is frankly an idiot as it's factually incorrect. It's actually an insult to our great history to refer to us as Arabs as we predate Arab history by far.Originally posted by Adesor Vafaseya View PostI would say its in our nature to be optimistic.
I like the fact that you don't call yourselves Arabs, nothing wrong with being Arabs by the way, and trust me we know you are not Arabs. This is what I don't understand with Egyptians, who have a much longer history and civilization and yet call themselves proudly Arabs. They make everyone think the same about whole North Africa!
Calling an Egyptian an Arab is as ridiculous as calling someone from Iran an Arab.

Not really though. Not saying you guys are Arabs but Egypt nonetheless is an Arabic country, Iran is not. So even though calling an Egyptian an Arab might be ridiculous it still makes more sense than calling an Iranian Arab.Originally posted by kastro View PostI don't know what Egyptians you've come across, but no Egyptian that I know (myself included) ever refer to ourselves as Arab - let alone proudly. That is different.
Your main language is Arabic - Although you have your own dialect.
Our main language is Farsi.

That's true that our main language (now) is Arabic. However, we have Coptic (Ancient Egyptian) words incorporated into our dialect that Arabs would not understand.
Salah winning Arab player of the year is just those Gulf Arabs trying to claim anything they can as their football is not a thing.
There's a lot of ignorance on the topic though. I bet some Moroccans were nominated too which shows how ridiclous it is in the first place.
I know you lot are not Arab of course and are far from it, but the average ignorant person would probably mistake your written language for Arabic.

So why is Egypt regarded as part of the arab world?Originally posted by kastro View PostI don't know what Egyptians you've come across, but no Egyptian that I know (myself included) ever refer to ourselves as Arab - let alone proudly. Could you explain to me why?
If Egyptians don't like being called arab, then why are they speaking (a dialect of) arabic?

Thanks I am glad you said that!Originally posted by kastro View PostI don't know what Egyptians you've come across, but no Egyptian that I know (myself included) ever refer to ourselves as Arab - let alone proudly. I ve met some (wrong) Egyptians in the past I guess! And what you said is something I am very happy to hear! Thanks!
I am of course well aware of Egypts long history and thats why I was always surprised even angry when I came across “wrong” egyptians. I guess the reason was most Egyptians I met in the past were in a large group of other Arab friends, perhaps thats why they gave the impression “we are one”.
Anyway, thanks for correcting me!CHECK OUT OUR FORUM RULES HERE: http://www.persianfootball.com/forums/faq.php

I know many Egyptian, Moroccan and Palestinians who consider themselves Arab and they are proud of it. I have nonetheless informed them that they are factually wrong, although I didn't say it as nicely as I am saying it here, if you know what I mean.Originally posted by kastro View PostI don't know what Egyptians you've come across, but no Egyptian that I know (myself included) ever refer to ourselves as Arab - let alone proudly.
