Because without friendlies what games would you use? National teams don't play in enough tournaments for only those to be used. The system isn't the best, but its the best we have.

I agree, Iran underperformed significantly in 2006. We had a relatively stacked team.

Take it easy. Cheshmi will not play as the center defender. The reason that has been playing last 2 training matches at that position is that he will gain international experience and to mislead the opponents. we will play with PAG and Monatzeri and Cheshmi will play as defensive midfielder along with hajsafi against Morocco.

haha, very true. My biggest worries are Cheshmi and Beiranvand however. Those are HUGE worries given that those 2 create the LARGEST possible hole which would allow an easy goal to our opponents.

Kind of ironic since Mirzapour scored a goal from a goal kick back during his Foolard days. Nonetheless, I feel like some of Beiranvand's mistakes are similar to Mirzapour's.

Mexico was impressive during the Confed cup 2005. Angola drew Portugal or Mexico. Portugal went to the semis.

At least I enjoyed more that wc than the last one. Our first half against Mexico and the equalizer just before half time was the last time I jumped from my chair for a TM WC game. Brank had the best squad but you forget we were in severe shortage of left back, GK during that time.

He took a team that has never kept a clean sheet, only ever won 1 game and only ever been to 3 previous World Cup and got a point with a clean sheet and nearly another against Argentina. ARGENTINA.

With Portugal, they were knocked out by the eventual winners Spain 1-0 in the knockouts.

Ya? You enjoyed the team playing with 10 men with Daei up front as a spectator? And then us looking like shit against Portugal parking the bus and praying they wouldn't score on us? Compare that to the Argentina game. The Mexico game was an absolute disaster as we looked like an amateur team in the second half and neutrals really lost respect for us after that game. With the players we had in the squad, that game was a disgrace. Put CQ as the coach of that team in that group and we would have probably beaten Mexico and Angola.
