This is a huge game for Korea - not just Son, but that entire team is hoping to be military exempt.

Big moment in their careers.

Imagine if our boys had something like this to play for - I can't always help but think about that stacked u23 team for the 2012 olympics I believe it was (when we used suspended Kamal and lost 3-0).

Imagine if Afshin, Kamyabinia, Mosalman, Aliasgari, and the rest of that star studded team ended up being military exempt instead of bouncing around clubs in PGL trying to play off the time. Their entire career trajectory could have ended so differently

We are doing quite well when you look at the full medal standings. 90 medals together, big improvement over the last 10 years through multiple sports. Too bad our football team wasn't able to match our National teams form!

IFF decided to go with U21. I watched highlights of this game (Pars-eh Jonoobee hosting Sepahan). Gohari (on the right in the photo) Was amazing. If it wasn't for him, Sepahan would have won at least 4-2 instead of tying 2-2.

Mehdi Amini was not under 21 but 22 years old.
Kranjcar wanted more experience older than 21 years GK and selected Amini because he knew him from Sepahan.

Iran has 58 medals. See the link below. That's one more than 2014. We still have a chance to match our 2014 number of gold medals if we win the finals of men's basketball and volleyball tomorrow.

I'm curious as to why they hired Estili for the U21 team. He hadn't found good results lately and didn't do well with Malavan in 2015-16. Where do you think he will go next? Hopefully he doesn't coach again...

yeah cuz indonesia included a bunch of sports that are like their national sports that only they play. LOL. Iran has done quite well this asian games overall.

Iranian complained about this. Iran gave 11 GOLD medals to Football players when the games were played in Iran.

Surprise are Bahrain and India. India has many GOLD in running (athletics). India had never gotten these many medals. They would rather answer international phones than play sports. LOL.

Yes, Iran is bound to get two more GOLD (Basketball and Volleyball) in few hours on September 1. This will put Iran as the same level as 2014, so it is NOT an improvement.

Iranian athletes must be supported by Iranian fans.
