the worrying thing is GK ( one of Beiranvand, Haghighi, Mazaheri needs to step up ).
Things that still need sorting are: A 4th choice CB capable to filling in for Jalal / Montazeri next to PAG ( first choice partnership is Montazeri- PAG without a doubt ) . Ansari showed he wasnt ready, lets see about Kanaani, others. Cheshmi is my current bet for that role, plus he can fill in DM if we are in emergency. Hope he gets played at CB vs togo.
The next matter is partner of Ezatolahi in the middle. Thankfully Saeid is having a resurgence right now and looks in good form / shape , his team has won 4 on the bounce, which he played 2 games of including the last big win away to Rubin where he was Motm. But who will partner him ? Hajsafi is not a distributor or dribbler, but more of a workhorse, left sided filler player who can cover a lot of ground. He would work best in a three man midfield of the left central mid role, but we dont play with that. Ebrahimi is my candidate, but he has not played for 6 weeks due to injury and SS are in terrible form. Him and Hajsafi are really our only to potential options here. I had high hope for Ali karimi who was in great form in croatia towards the back end of last season, and showed himself well in TM games vs Montenegro and Uzbekistan, but now as he is back with sepahan and was unable to stay in europe, plus his poor game vs syria, we cannot rely on him.
Hopefully these two friendly matches against decent opposition, and the next two that will be vs one European Team ( Sweden has been talked of ) and one south American team ( hopefully venezuela or ecuador ) will give us answers to these three issues.

I think Beiro has already talked loud and clear that he is not reliable anymore (Syria, Sepahan, Al Hilal, enough said). We already know Haghighi's weaknesses, so it is time to give Mazaheri a chance.Originally posted by inarsenewetrust View Postthe worrying thing is GK ( one of Beiranvand, Haghighi, Mazaheri needs to step up ).
Ansari is more of a LB not CB. I think keeping Ansari as 2nd or 3rd choice LB is good for future. Kanaani was a member of NT before he busted his knee in SS. I recall he was good back then. He is a little heavy now but his physical shape is good for us if he can move a little faster and be more involved on aerial encounters. Rouzbeh is better in DM but if we can turn him to a full time CB will be great. I think Montazeri is done with his injury as well as Seyd Jalal. I think we won't have Hosseini and Montazeri with us in WC 2018. CQ should be fast finding subs for them we need 5 solid CBs for WC. Now I can only see PAG. This is the area we are getting hit on ACL and WCQs lately.Originally posted by inarsenewetrust View PostThings that still need sorting are: A 4th choice CB capable to filling in for Jalal / Montazeri next to PAG ( first choice partnership is Montazeri- PAG without a doubt ) . Depending on our game plan, we may add a DM to pair up with SE or add a AM to push the team forward. For DM we have many players such as Kamal Kamyabinia, Omid Ebrahimi (out of injury), Ahmad Nourollahi,... HajiSafi is best when he plays as LW (his original place). I think it is time to either bench Amiri or try HajiSafi there. Although HajiSafi is also great in LMF as you mentioned. Omid Alisha was a great LW as well but he is now a soldier so ... Using Torabi and HajiSafi on LW is great. Torabi is also good on RW replacing JB.Originally posted by inarsenewetrust View PostThe next matter is partner of Ezatolahi in the middle. I think Sweden is good but I will take Colombia over Venezuela. We need to challenge ourselves, the time of hiding behind the bushes is over. We want to advance to second round and to do that we should not avoid playing against stronger teams. That is where we show our flaws and can fixed them before WC.Originally posted by inarsenewetrust View PostHopefully these two friendly matches against decent opposition, and the next two that will be vs one European Team ( Sweden has been talked of ) and one south American team ( hopefully venezuela or ecuador ) will give us answers to these three issues.Last edited by PersianLegion; 10-01-2017, 12:29 PM.

Considering the past few years of TM and the players selected, this is easily the strongest squad call up we have had since our legends retired.--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------
--Moharrami----Hosseini--Kanaani----Amiri--
------------------Ezatolahi-----Ebrahimi--------------
--Jahanbaksh---------Ghoddos------------Taremi--
---------------------------Azmoun----------------------

I would be so shocked to see him go from his PGPL performances over the past couple of years to starting in the WC lolOriginally posted by Z Joon View PostIn the end watch Lak start in goal at the WC

Line up vs Togo (considering how friendlies are meant to try out new players and tactics, and to fix areas we are struggling in)
-------------------Mazaheri------------------
--Rezaeian---Cheshmi--Pouraliganji--Mohammadi
--------------------Ebrahimi-----------------------
--Torabi------------Dejagah------------Ghoddos--
-------------Rezaei---------Ghoochannejhad------
SUBS:
1. Ansarifard => Rezaei
2. Kanaani => Pouraliganji
3. Jahanbakhsh => Dejagah (move Ghoddos into the middle)--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------

I agree with everything you said in your post but the above statement. I don't know about Montazeri but Seyed Jalal continues to be our very best defender even at this age (Pouraliganji included). Our whole defense is so much different and becomes much more solid when he's present in the lineup. In the WC he's gonna be 36 and on the limit of being too old for such a competitive event but if we don't find a solid replacement until then, he's gonna be playing as our best defender in the WC.Originally posted by PersianLegion View PostI think Montazeri is done with his injury as well as Seyd Jalal. montazeri has a shoulder issue...he will be fit in a few months. It shouldnt really affect his play that much as he is much more of a reader game rather than a physical defender. Hope he is fit, he will be crucial.Originally posted by Sly View PostI agree with everything you said in your post but the above statement. Well shoulders (depending on the injury) can take a very long time to heal. I had a shoulder injury 1.5 year ago and my shoulder is still not 100% like it was before.Originally posted by inarsenewetrust View Postmontazeri has a shoulder issue...he will be fit in a few months. I really hope Montazeri can come back in top form though. Him and Pouraligani were the only ones who could keep the defense solid in the absence of Seyed Jalal. I still think the latter should be included in the final WC squad irrespective of which defenders are selected.
