very disappointing. Now its time to get down to business. He needs at least 15 goals for Rubin this season ( probably closer to 20 ) and an excellent WC (performances, goals, and getting Iran into the knockout stage/putting in a great overall performance ) . Currently he isnt fit, and he needs to start starting. This off the bench bs will not improve his goal tally.

We can hope, but it would take some magic for him to perform like that in this league this season. In an ultra-defensive league with their talent, he is going to have a hard time. Scoring 15-20 goals requires good service. Sardar can't make goals as 1 man alone. Hopefully their chemistry improves or they start performing better individually.

Like most things in iranian football, best to not get our hopes up.

If history is an indicator, he will score 5-10 goals in the league, and we are not even close to guaranteed to look good in the World Cup. Everyone is expecting us to easily make it out of the group, but we could be in a group of death where it will make it hard for our players to shine.

If Lazio debacle has taught us anything, we can't have high expectations.

His life, his career, his choice. There maybe more than meets the eye here. Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he's given his transfer lots of thought and figured his best option at the moment is Rubin....maybe just maybe he's thinking he can do better after WC2018.

Watch tomorrow there's going to be media outlets linking him to Lazio a done deal followed by him staying at Rubin Kazan. So sick and tired of this childish shit.

Hes gonna fail if he stays with Rubin. Even riding bench at Lazio would be better. He wont score 15 in that league and that shitty team of Rubin. What will be his biggest game to look forward to? A couple of league games against cska moscow?? What he doesnt get is he made a name for himself, at Rubin with no euro football, he will be forgotten by next year even if he scores 20 and 3 more in the world cup. This one mistake could cost him his career eventhough hes young.

Reminds me of Karimis no to Atletico. In my opinion that made him stagnate. Hope not history repeated ...

All indications is that Rubin Kazan stalled the negotiations. Russians are impossible to deal with - they will not budge.

Good question - Sardar is to blame for this - but reports emerged that he and his father wanted a move as Lazio's interest really spiked just after he signed. I think that because of the unsettled Rostov - Rubin legal battle (there was no clear conclusion to it), Sardar signed with Rubin because he did something wrong and went to Rostov without Rubin's approval. He was probably hoping that if he got a good offer, that the money would Rubin would receive would cool any legal issues. Rubin is greedy and think that 18 mill is not enough - they think highly of Sardar and want to cash in even more after the World Cup - which Iran made. This is just my guess with some facts but it makes sense.

In before Azmoun transfers to Lazio in the winter transfer season... Calling it now either Lazio or Aluminium Arak.

Either way, expect Azmoun to make either the Serie A or Azadegan #GREATAGAIN

Yeah let give the benefit of doubt to someone that drives a car at 200km/h towards a wall, with only 5 meters left before reaching the wall

Deep down, we all know this is a harmful move for his career long-term. The longer he stays in Russia, the more he is labeled a Russian player. Teams right now are viewing him as better than that. The longer he stays and adapts to that competition level, the more he'll be viewed on that level. Be honest with yourselves, interest from big teams is from his CL performance, not his league performances.

Sardar looks like an average player in the league. That's a product of the league's style of play. People are already calling his goals against Bayern and Atletico flukes and lucky. Go read that Lazio forum, the dumbasses think Caicedo is better than Azmoun.

The longer he looks average in the average Russian league, the more average he will look to potential buyers. We are all banking on him having a great season and a breakout World Cup. What if that doesn't happen? What if we get a group of death and Sardar looks average?

without miracle performances in the league and World Cup, he is guaranteed to be seen as an average player next year. It's sad, but he put himself in this situation.

Lazio expected him to come in and make a difference for them. If he doesn't make a huge impact at Rubin this year, do you think teams will still think he's an impact player? It's a risk and a gamble to make that bet.

We know he is talented but the longer he waits in a league like Russia, the worse odds he has of breaking out in a top league. This was his chance to do it.

I would put my money on Sardar not being as sought after next year as compared to now. He would need a big performance in World Cup, and even then, many teams don't sign based on World Cup performance anyways.

It's a bad situation, but there is always false hope to make us feel better.

                                Did Sardar really do that?
