He won't destroy his career if he doesn't go, in fact it is very understandable, the Islamic Republic states that athletes most not participate in events against Israeli athletes or travel to Israel. AZ will obviously understand that Ali has to adhere to these statements as he is a player for TM and his entire family is living in Iran

As I recall, Ashkan was already passed over by the German national team well before the controversy surrounding his refusal to travel to Israel surfaced.Originally posted by Zamboor View PostTell that to Ashkan Dejagah.
In fact He only agreed to play for TM after it became very evident he was not going to be considered for German's WC14 selection. That, I know for a fact as I followed his bs bahane-giri, gorbeh-raghsooni n drama very closely before he finally joined TM ..!

That was fucking pathetic of Salah. Keep politics outside of sports, a random Maccabi player doesn't control what Netanyahu does in the boardroomOriginally posted by inarsenewetrust View PostIsrael is a disgusting , vile , terrorist state who slaughters innocent people daily . and if he chooses not to travel or play against them , I have no issue with that . Iranians are not the only players who face this controversy . Mohamed salah who now plays for Roma was under intense scrutiny when at Basel because of a similar situation. He refused to shake their hands and scored against them , going on to reveal a free Palestine shirt in celebration if I remember correctly . Here is an article about it from a few years back . http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/f...g-9081607.html
I fully recognize Israel' faults, but if given choice, I much rather live in a society governed by Israel than Palestine (Hamas).

There is. Older people in Iran are scared of IR people their own age. This is because of what they've seen and the revolution. The youth arent scared of the young IR members because they themselves are "Rich kids of Tehran" bacheh sosool types.Originally posted by Sly View PostThat's what I thought before too, until I saw the children of many of those +60 year olds, are brought up just like themselves. Unfortunately there is no hope!

After yesterday nice UCL draw, what a catastrophic draw in Europa league. While having the possibility to play against the like of Inter, Man United, Fenerbahçe, Schalke, AZ took a russian side, an irish side (hopefully they won't injury JB with their physical play) and icing on the cake, these *** israelis. These**** escaped narrowly elimination with a shoot-out qualification and come and bring potential controversy for our poor JB.
Our players are starving to play quality sides and out of 10 groups of 4 teams, AZ took the worst one : unsexy, uncovered and controversial.

Well, my experience is the other way around! I see older people openly criticizing the regime in the streets while younger people use the social media like Instagram! Older people are the ones who are less scared.Originally posted by perspolis#1 View PostThere is. Older people in Iran are scared of IR people their own age. If that's the case, then maybe it is best that I try not to argue with you . Too far gone .using the word "Faults" to describe the policies of Israel is doing an injustice to the Palestinian people whom it is our duty to stand by as FELLOW HUMANS.Originally posted by elnino99 View PostThat was fucking pathetic of Salah. I wonder how long we can avoid playing their athletes or team. I'm sure with their international influence, at some point they'll force Fifa to make us pay heavily.
If AZ understands Alireza's situation and finds a politically correct solution, it would the ideal option, otherwise he might face disciplinary action which could cost him a lot.
It's very difficult to be in Alireza's shoes at this time. I hope it won't occupy his mind too much during this crucial period for TM.

It probably won't. The way I see him he's always got his shit straight. Playing in Netherlands and being in the Dutch culture has done him good. He's got the right mentality. He's got the right people around him.Originally posted by GolfePersique View PostI wonder how long we can avoid playing their athletes or team.
