Guys, so far Japan has only beaten two weak teams, N.Korea and Vietnam. And if I remember correctly, this is the same Japan that our youth team with Sardar and Jahanbakhsh beat in the Group stage 3-4 years ago.
So I think we have a realistic shot at eliminating them.
I am more worried about our own performance though. We have not been as strong and impressive as we had hoped for coming to the tournament. Especially is our defence not very solid!
Lets see how Japan performs against S.Arabia. We might get an idea of their strenghts and weekness.
Usually Iranian teams do well in the Group stage in these Asian Cups and win the Group but then they get eliminated in the quarters!
So maybe the fact that we are qualifying as nr. 2 from our Group with a loss already might do something to the team. Having tasted the bitter deafeat once at the Group stage, they might be more motivated to fight for a win in the quarter.
