I like Stevie B but being a good defender by MLS standards doesn't do it in international football. They guy can't close down on time, affords forwards too much space, and doesn't really bring much to the offensive side of the game. Just look at Ghafouri, Mohammadi, or Rezaian--there's no comparison there. I do wish him all the best with TFC though. I hope they win the MLS this year because my FCD are pretty much out.

Look I am not saying the MLS is La Liga, but for the short time it has existed, it is much more competitve thay QSL or China. I meam players in China stay for a season and move on. Lets remove the bias, guys like Bradley, Jones, Giovinco, and even Howard all have European club and international experience. So what, Bradley plays for USMNT...but in all fairness they have done well in the WC. I think some of us are quick to dismiss MLS because it's a American League.Originally posted by freak View PostMost of the guys on that list are from really poor footballing nations or regional countries like Jamaica, Costa Rica, Honduras, etc., for whom MLS is a good stepping stone to further their careers. Most of the players on yourlist were capped only a handful of times. The European calibre players moved to MLS teams after their careers were over in Europe. Are you seriously suggesting that the likes of Henok Goitom with 2 caps for Eritrea, Stephen Sunday with 1 cap for Nigeria, Omar Holmes with 2 caps for Jamaica, Erik Friberg with two Sweden caps, and Hernan Bernardello with one Argentinian cap provide quality? Come on.
I agree the bigger names like Pirlo, David Villa, and Drogba certainly do, but again, their production is significantly hampered by the lack of quality around them.
And btw, I think you being from Canada makes your argument sound really biased. I judge a league's overall quality not by the best players but by the lowest common denominator. You can bring in the best talent from around the world but if you don't have any local talent, your league will mostly suck (See MLS).
And to be fair, outside of SK and Japan what AFC nation has made the second round of WC? Now just think in 2014 alone, Mexico, Costa Rica, and USA all achieved that. So ya the MLS has a good local pool of talent to build from.

Yeah it looks like he's recently been playing as a right midfielder.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View PostHe is playing much higher in the midfield next to cooper. Didn't know Beita had that in him.
And they are playing in Yankee stadium...field looks so small!

He is arguably top 2 italian striker at the moment.Originally posted by TheWheels View PostGiovinco is a tank, could easily have made a top 8 team in any league but I guess Toronto FC offered the most cash. Great to have him in Canada.

Belotti , Immobile, Insigne are all ahead of him in my opinion. That being said he probably deserves a shout for NT over somebody like Eder. Also Balo has been great for Nice i think he deserves a call up.Originally posted by O-ZoNe View PostHe is arguably top 2 italian striker at the moment.
