I also believe, contrarily to most people, that we should certainly be able to find a decent foreign coach after CQ, I said it before even someone like Paul Le Guen, current Oman manager, who has an impressive resume and is a realistic option, I'm sure someone of his caliber could still achieve excellent results with the future Iranian squad, we have a lot of great talents coming up which may end up being one of our best generations imo (2018-2022 one).

But CQ must stay now and improve, we started this qualification with him and we will need to end it with him (of course except major slip up), however after 2018 I think it would be time for someone else to step up.

Given the lack of talent, CQ is doing well, and has outperformed his predecessors.

What would CQ do if he had real quality? If he had 3 bundesliga starters, 2 la liga starters, and a respected Serie A defender?

TM talent sort of sucks right now and no one wants to admit it. But anyone who's been watching for 15+ years and sees our history knows this.
To be honest, we don't need any European based player to beat Oman. Looking at the past achievements of Oman, it is safe to say that they are a 2nd tier Asian side at best! Even our league is superior to Oman, so I don't think that the ''shortage of talent'' is an issue. We had pretty experienced players like Andranik, Hosseini and few others on the field..what they had shown was far below what should be expected from them. Talents can't carry the entire team by themselves.

Probably top 3 worst performances of TM under CQ (With the Lebanon and Turkmenistan matches)
Go figure that we really pulled the equalizer out of our asses.

It definitely says something about Queiroz's coaching abilities to implement the right tactics, get the boys motivated to go out on full force and prepare them for Oman overall. From yesterday, it looked like none of the above were done accordingly. It was shite.

His achievements are still not better than his previous colleagues, the QF's of the Asian Cup and Group Stage of the World Cup has been achieved before. I think it's pretty normal that some people here expect better results after 4 years. Oman tie was not the real problem, but the way how we performed is worrisome. I thought we were done dealing with Arab teams because I hope CQ would have figured how to play them since he is coaching TM for 4 years now.

His decisions to play too defensive against weaker opponenst and playing Hajsafi as LB when he proves to suck on that position time after time leave a lot to be desired.

That's the stupidest, most idiotic statement I've read the past week. Playing style is more important than result? Are you high?

"Oh yeah we lost the game against this top team but we played well!"

Ohh yeahh well we won this match against this top team but we didn't play well, QUIEROZ OUT!"

This is not at all reactionary. This is based on careful analysis of the past year, and nothing at all to do with 1 game each from TM and u23 that we watched. There was nobody calling for khakpour's resignation 6 months ago after a string of abysmal games. That never happened.

Our league is full of attacking and precise passing on a weekly basis. It's not only occasional good football that we wish we saw with more consistency every week.

Its crazy how with such amazing passing and attacking in our league and u23 and u19 team, our senior TM magically cannot pass.
You talk about reactionary yet this seems like a reactionary response to me. Nowhere did I say khakpour should replace cq or that cq should go. Just saying that contrary to the popular belief here, Iranian players are actually able to pass the ball.

    Great post. Thank you!

Our entire team underperformed in this match. I was shocked to see our boys playing so poor. They lost possession so easily, so many wrong passes and terrible shooting attempts. The amount of turnovers by our midfielders were outrageous.

But again it's football and all teams have their flop days, well I confess, our TM typically bears it more often than other teams!

I am pretty confident, in Azadi we will witness a totally different TM and indeed Oman as well. Hope to see an Oman thrashing day!

It looks like that each time an opponent sends the ball from left to right Haghighi is in trouble because there comes an oppening. It was first discovered by Iraqis the sweedis and now Oman.
