i can think of a few off the top of my head, iran vs south korea olympic qualifiers in azadi no less we were out noised by the loud drumbs of koreans and lost that game. today against afghanistan in olympic qualifiers we were badly outnumbered.

For the afghan fans it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see their team play against a strong team (iran), in the place they live tehran

It's still Iran it doesn't matter if it's U 23 or not we were still outnumbered. Remember Iran - Guinea in Azadi? 5000 people showed up. Remember Iran - Uzbekistan in Tehran in WCQ one of the most important matches? 35000 people showed up. People in Tehran don't care about football anymore.

Brazilian people love football they would have filled their stadiums no matter what.

We all saw the fans come out in droves for the AC in Australia. Today the stadium seemed extremely loud. I couldn't make out ay cheers for Chile but there were plenty for Iran,loud enough to be completely audible: The Iran chants, Iran chekaresh kardeh, soorakh soorkhesh kardeh, the CQ chants, etc.
Have we ever had a game where there wasn't massive fan support in the stadium?

Regarding the support vs. Chile: I think there are about 10,000 Iranians in Vienna, so 20% turning up is not the worst thing. Still, I would have hoped for more.

I read somewhere that t was Mohsen Motamedkia (hope i'm right with the name), Team Melli's Media officer, who was friends with Hossein Javadi and Milad Hojjatoleslami RIP (the two iranian reporters who lost their lives in the Germanwings incident) and he got emotional for not having his friends witnessing TM win pretty sad
