On any day, I would take Brazil over Paraguay regardless of the conditions, and it should be the same with Iran and these Persian Gulf nations.
These are not excuses, these are pretty much facts. Why players and in particular Iranian ones go for Arab money at such young age (26,28)? Because they simply lack ambition. Such things won't help them through major tournaments such as Asian Cup, how can this be excuses? Ghoochannejhad's move to Al-Kuwait alone showed that he has zero ambition. FFS, he had a good World Cup and scored a goal..then he joins some semi-professional league! CQ can't be blamed for this and I have already said that.

And about the preparation part, when did we have a friendly game then?

Spot on. Anything less than SF = Major failure = Change coach and fresh new start for TM with new mentality and players, at least for me.

Still, I don't remember us beating Jordan or Iraq easily.

Question remains if this team has determination to lift the trophy, seeing most of our key players aiming for Arab money.

^ And still, this team will have a huge lack of prep and friendlies, nothing seems to be certain yet.

I hope I'm bloody wrong but with most of our players in Qatar and our striker in Kuwait I don't have high hopes. CQ has no influence here.

If we loose in group stage or in QF to Iraq it will be probably the worst result in our football in recent times along with the Lebanon loss. CQ has no rights for any mistakes in this tournament, it's pretty much do or die for him, IFF will probably fire him in case of any failure there.

For me, anything less than Semis in AC, is unacceptable. If we do not even achieve this, I am in favour of dropping CQ of course. We are meeting Iraq most probably in QF, arguably the easiest QF possible. Anything less than Semis is unacceptable with this draw and I hope Queiroz knows it.

And this is how it should be. Remember this is Asia, no longer the world...we should be top 3 or 4 in Asia as it is indicative of where we would stand in order to qualify for 2018 as well.

I don't mean to diss your boy, but Montazeri was a sick RB, I really hope he plays there for us

Dont expect any defensive changes for the asian cup. Montazeri at rb and the hosseini sadeghi combo in theiddle with pooladi on the left. I just hope we just see more of jahanbaksh and azmoun and less of shojaei and dejagah(fucked himself by going to the gutter)
