Question is how did he get this job! ... Knowing English and Farsi equally well is not rarity. A lot of people could have filled the role. Many on this forum!

Being the translator doesn't mean you only need to know English and Farsi. There are many other things involved with the job. For example, CQ has a tendency to give very long answers to questions from Iranian media, which poor Arian has to remember and translate in a manner that makes sense.
Unfortunately some of the things CQ says in English doesn't grammatically make sense; it's Arian job to immediately understand what he is trying to get across.
Well done to him. Some say that we are crediting a translator too much, but considering he has been with CQ more than any of his assistants, he is an integral part of the team.Comment

Being fluent in english and farsi doesn't mean you'll be a great translator. I'm fluent in both english and farsi and sometimes when I watch movies with my dad and I try to translate it for him I realize how hard it is to translate on the spot. I would have to pause the movie, think and use google translate sometimes, you know what the word means and you know how to use it but you forget what the translation in farsi is.Originally posted by Kavian View PostComment
