Some news regarding Belgium ahead of World Cup 2026

As you all know, Iran will face Belgium in group G. In a recent preparation game against Croatia (June 2), the Red Devils had 43% possession playing away in a 3-4-2-1 formation, and managed to win 2-0. Croatia had the upper hand in aerial duels, and Belgium took more shots from outside the box. After failing to start a single game for Napoli in 2025-26, Romelu Lukaku marked his Belgium return with a goal in the warm-up match against Croatia.

    Top Belgian contributers per Sofascore:

In attack, Belgium turned pressure into quality looks, winning touches in the box 18 to 12 and hitting four shots on target to Croatia’s one. Youri Tielemans was the standout with a Sofascore Rating of 8.3. The captain scored the opener, hit the target once more, created a big chance and completed 25 of 31 passes with two key passes. Amadou Onana anchored the Belgian build-up with 47 of 48 passes completed, five clearances, three interceptions and a last-man tackle, good for a 7.5. Arthur Theate’s 7.4 came with 55 of 57 passing and six clearances, a steady night on the left of the back three. Doku earned a 7.3 with two shots on target and five progressive carries that kept Croatia guessing. Lukaku only needed one shot to make his 7.3 count, steering home Vanaken’s pass at 90+6.

Belgium beat Croatia 2-0 in Rijeka. Tielemans scored, Lukaku sealed it. Key stats, cards and Sofascore Rating standouts from the international friendly.

TM usually plays well vs big teams.

only vs England when fans turned their back on TM, even though they refused to sing anthem + beiro injury we got smashed. Our players heads weren’t in the game.

I feel Belgium will be the same, unfortunately.

if we can lose 3-0 it would be a decent result, we might able to qualify as one of the 3rd place teams.

After conceding the 4th goal he will sub in moghanloo for a defender. Because moghanloo is Pele in the eyes of GN

He ruined our TM 19 years ago in 07 AC and still hasn’t developed. We’re so doomed :/

not true, they can play more formations and Pardo could be the surprise player if Doku would be off. And don’t forget, Trossard is also a possibility

                  Interesting observation:

Former Iran head coach Marc Wilmots is the current sporting director of Standard Liege in Belgium, where Dennis Dargahi plays... I'd certainly like to see Dargahi featured in the next match. Iran and Belgium's national soccer teams have apparently never faced each other. Iran in comparison, had played New Zealand twice before (2003 and 1973).

                  Is this merely a coincidence?

Sad to see that PFDC members have better and more in depth analysis of our opponents than GN does.

We've played big teams before but in 1998 and 2006 we had good players

And in 2014 and 18 and 22 we had a coach who gave us good structure

This time we dont have good plays and we have no structure. This will be a very embarassing loss for islamic republic
