...... but I doubt very much if FIFA going to ban Islamic Republic. Islamic Republic would also not withdraw on their own initiative, as they see this as an opportunity to show defiant. I feel bad though for those players that are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they quiet TM, they are seen as traitors and will most certainly face some form of severe punishment by the barbaric regime. If IR is not already in the garbage can of history by the WC date (which is looking less likely at the moment), it would be very interesting to see how IR is going to withstand the pressure in Los Angeles/Seattle. I am sure people in general will be kind and sympathetic towards the players (except a few who are known to be a bacheh paasdar like Torabi and Khalilzadeh) but they will not tolerate the IR anthem to be heard in stadiums nor the shameful flag waved. And if IR is gone, this WC would be THE MOST memorable one ever, regardless of how the team does.

i dont think its an act of defiance rather the fines and costs of doing so far out way the benefit - no way the federation will pay the millions in fines and miss out on the next 15 world cup qualifiers in order to be "defiant" theres too much money at stake
