I think a multitude of factors (in no particular order)
- salary
- UCL exposure
- proximity to Iran
- a coach who is willing to do load management considering his injury history
- lifestyle

Heavy doubt on Atromitos beating most Saudi/UAE teams or even Qatari Al-Sadd. Greek league only top 4 teams are any good, the rest are Gol Gohar level

I highly doubt they beat a mid clubs in Qatar or UAE even
this is one of the worst leagues in Europe
other than Olympia, AEK, PAOK and Panathinakos the rest are more or less at Qatae, UAE and IPL levels and i don’t even mention Saudi!
