his consistently excellent and superior fitness and stamina is what really set him apart from most other (some even far more talented) Iranian footballers of our past who also made it far in EU club football..!
if i recall somewhat early on, in his last season at Porto is when he first came down with that Hernia injury ... after which he could never again play with his usual high intensity in Any Consistent Manner.. and his production in front of the goal and overall game minutes played suffered accordingly..!

i think he often recovers from this nasty, painful and bizarre acting injury , but it seems those recoveries have been largely temporary in nature and his hernia seem to flair back up when he puts in a long shift in club and international play..!! that's why he started his Inter spell pretty strongly as well but hernia injury came back to bite him in the asss about a couple of months into last season, but then again he recovered towards the end of last season and was playing good / effective football during which time Inzaghi ignorantly benched him often when crucial fixtures loomed, down the stretch and paid the price dearly when they chocked in race for league crown/cup semi's and off course the beat down at UCL Final..!

I think he needs an extended 6months+ or more rest to fully recover .... ?? (that's what it took for me back in my mid 30s, though i stopped playing for 8months or longer. i think? )
so im guessing he will yet again start his Olympiacos spell as well strong, but if over-worked or played his sports hernia injury is quiet likely to flair back up and and affect his performances..!??

He aged, that's what happened. He's gonna be 34+ next year at the World Cup. You won't find many players who keep up the same output after 30 much less 33 unless they are KDB or something.
