        On the bench

With Van Persie gone, the team out of contention for a conference league spot, his inevitable benching has happened.

His replacement just scored a goal.

The Iraqi player Ali Jasim playing for Almere city is very talented.
A name to watch out for when we sce Iraq.

              Alireza was below average.

Couldn't create any chances of getting the end of any passes.

Defensively he was meh. Didn't stop any dangerous attacks and if anything failed to clear the ball few times which led to the opponent getting more opportunities.

Given his experience you'd think he'd be better at time management when down a player, but he seemed pretty desperate to make something happen offensively and turned the ball over when he should have slowed the game down and draw out the clock.

Would not be surprised if he's on the bench next match.

Safe to say his time at the club is over.

Unused sub today after a poor performance previous match. Manager is playing young talent instead.

Hopefully this is a wake up call for him about his real status at the moment. A rotation player for a mid table European club in a non top 5 league.

He's not good anymore... Sorry, but it's evident for Team Melli and evident for anyone who watches him in the Eredivisie as well...

Nothing to be shamed of! He had a very long euro career and even played in the prem! But he was always someone who got carried by hard work rather than natural talent.

I’d say bring him to Persepolis but he’s not
technical enough to break down low blocks from most of our opponents.

Still deserves massive respect as our longest lasting legionnaire.

His attitude is such that I think a lot of low-mid level teams will take him.

Definitely still has a place in the Dutch league in a smaller club. The issue is that he seems a bit out of touch with his actual value and thinks he can get offers from better leagues and clubs.

Harsh opinion: he would be doing team melli a favor by retiring after the world cup, his decline is pretty bad. Whether its by choice or whoever the coach is retires him.

Gholizadeh overall plays much better than him, and he's taking up the spot of a few youngsters who are also much better at this point like Hashemnejad (he is better than ARJ and its not even up for debate). Also Allahyar as well. Like him or not he has almost 15 G/A in Belgium this season.

Nothing against him, its just he's clearly declined in speed and decision making. He's always giving the ball away and his biggest value of note is his defensive hustle which others can provide too

JB is still the best all around winger we have.
Gholi and Ghaedi have their flashy moments offensively, but JB as a two way player is very useful to the team. His positioning, pressing, defensive skills are far superior to any winger we have, with Allahyar coming in second.

With that said, I think he should be retired after the world cup (unless he switches positions to something that requires less of pace), and give way to the next generation.

I think if he stays as a super sub who is there for leadership then its ok. But I really don't think he should start ahead of some other players like Hashemnejad who is tearing it up (defensively too!) and is hungry for 45 min in TM to prove himself

^ he is good as an experienced player on the bench to support the bench warmers. But not on the pitch honestly.
