I thought he looked lively. Won some aerial duels. Had a few good defensive contributions.

Poor Taremi, he does not play as a forward, he is a new hybrid of forward defender.

probably needs to get out of this team.

He's not here to score goals.

Yeah they don't use him to score at all. Not even looked to on offense. It's like his role is to close out the game when Inter is leading, press, win battles, and be a placeholder in the defensive shape.

His role is not one that will lead to flashy numbers

I have high hopes for Tuesday! Latest report is that Lautaro will “do everything he can” to be fit for Tuesday but I severely doubt he’d be fit for 90. Either Mehdi will start and Lautaro will enter towards the end of the match if need be. Or Lautaro will play 45-60 and then it’ll be Mehdi’s turn.

Why would they use him to score ?

If I am Inzaghi and Lautaro is banged up but can still contribute 30-45 mins, I'd use him in crunch time to close this game out with their UCL campaign on the line. Therefore, I would say Thuram and Taremi starting is the more likely scenario.

I don't think starting Lautaro and Thuram in hopes of getting a goal early then parking the bus will work against Barca, so might as well save the best for last.

Unfortunately, they’ve been using him like that since the beginning of the season. Not really looking for him, even when he’s in decent positions.

It’s one thing if he’s been getting plenty of goal scoring chances, and he’s been squandering them. But doesn’t get proper service.

Either way, he’s been looking good again. Looking forward to Tuesday.

Brother earlier this season he missed two 100% chance tap-in. One against Milan, the other losing 2 points in league (currently down 3 pt!). Our dustan here expect the club to put a crown on his head and make him noke hamle? We should just be happy they accept him for amale/karegar role be in vaze gandesh… and that his competition is 36 years old! (with 7 goals!)

Taremi fills an important role for Inter I just wish he was not nursing this injury.

For counterattacking teams against possession heavy teams like Barcelona a striker ideally should have the ability to hold up the ball and break a defensive press to allow the cavalry to catch up for the counter.

His lack of pace is severely visible whenever the other team is building up from the back and breaking the press.

Yep. I think from 2019-2023 he used to be pretty speedy so he got away with dropping so deep to help build up play. But he needs to decide what he wants to do now that he's slower.

In TM the quality the opposition we face is low enough that a low speed Taremi coming back to defend at CB then running back to give a key pass to Mohebi works out.

But at Inter? Serie A? With a groin injury?

Good luck with dropping deep. He needs to evolve his style a bit with old age these last few seasons to be able to hang at high level.

Especially since he drops deeper than any striker I've ever seen, not even Lautaro drops that deep. Shout-out to when he got a red card being RB vs Syria

Reports from today suggest Lautaro will be in the squad tomorrow and there is optimism that he can start.

Regardless, I doubt he’s fit for full 90 so Taremi will feature at some point
