I was in San Siro on Wednesday and saw the game live. I haven´t seen many of his games from the stadium, but from what I noticed he lacks selfesteem and isn´t really part of the group. He doesn´t hustle as much as he does in tm and I don´t know if I have these feelings because of all of the things that I have read but it doesn´t look good.

What I saw was that he made a lot of good runs through the defense though, so did Lautaro (not as much though), but Inter doesn´t seem to want to play long balls. With the right passes I believe that Inter could hurt Milan beacuse of the high defensive line but they prefered to pass sideways. I really hope that he can score atleast 4-5 goals before the end of the season, just enough to get his selfesteem back and perhaps get another chance. Inter is a big club and he shouldnt give up.

By the way I am not a big football stats guy but according to fbref, Mehdi Taremi's xG + xA this year is 3.3 for the Serie A. His actual performance has been 1 goal + 1 assist.
That should tell you he's had very few goals coring chances all season. Considering how many minutes he's played that xG + xA is incredibly low.

I have been a member here for over 10 years and read a lot (pretty much every single page of this thread for example) but almost never post. But, with all due respect to everyone, the amount of ridicolous comments I have read from many members has just blown my mind so much that I cant refrain from writing anymore.

So, to give you some context: I am a long time hardcore Inter fan and have followed Inter since around 1998-1999, watching pretty much every single game they play on a weekly basis.

When news came out that Mehdi would join my beloved Inter, I had mixed feelings. It was really cool to be able to see an Iranian player in the team I have followed since I was a kid, while at the same time I knew that I had to live with hearing the most absurd comments from many ULTRA patriotic fans and also many "expert analysis" on Inter from Iranian fans who really never followed the team before and have no clue what they are talking about.

Everyone has their right to their opinion, so you can believe all you want but here is mine:

Taremi has been absolut SHIT! Rating his performance throughout the season I don't know what player anyone could mention in the squad thIt aat has performed below expectations more than Taremi. It absolutely amazes me how one bad touch from some world class striker like Thuram or Lautaro makes so many members here absolutely batshit them and question how they are not subbed of and replaced while Taremi has absolutely aweful performance week after week and cant have a single good run or touch on the ball and people find the most absurd excuses constantly defending it. Here are some comments Ive read throughout the thread:

"Inzaghi is a bad coach, he is at fault for Taremis low moral or bad performance somehow"

Inzaghi is one of the best coaches Inter has ever had and not only constantly amongst the best coaches in Serie A but also recognized as one of the best coaches in the world. He has done EVERYTHING for Taremi, playing and trusting him WAAAY more than what I consider is reasonable. If anything, I am really baffled and dissapointed how adamant he has been on not giving up on Taremi regardless of how bad he plays week after week.

            "Racism this and racism that"

Inter is called "InterNAZIONALE" for a reason. Anti-racism is in their DNA. If some of you guys find a way to play the racist card even here then you just simply see racism everywhere things dont go as you wish.

"His self-esteem in Inter is low"

Attitude and moral and coping with high pressure is a part of a professional football players responsibility at the highest level. It is not just about kicking the ball, thats just half the battle. Just like Lautaro had a tough start to the season but coped with it psychologically and came back. If anything, his low self-esteem is another proof of how he is nowhere near playing at this level, he cant cope. Playing in Iran NT against Thailand or Qatar is a whole different story.

"Thuram played shit, Lautaro was worthless, Taremi was better bla bla bla"

These posts are the craziests of them all. That some of you actually, at any point in time, was of the opinion that Taremi was anywhere close to Lautaro (shortlisted for one of last years best strikers in the entire world, winner of world cup etc. etc.) or that he was a contender to take Thurams place (also one of the best strikers in the world, playing alongside other strikers like Mbape and at the very highest possible level) is just beyond INSANE to me. It is not like he ever, even at his prime in Porto, was anywhere close to any of these two and was gonna replace one of them in the starting 11 if he had a good start to the season.

"They should give the penalty to Taremi not calhanogluwho shot so awefully"

If anything, it was extremely nice of Lautaro when he that one time gave the penalty to Taremi. Its not a charity game where everything evolves around being nice to Taremi and lifting him up. Calhanoglu is one of the best penalty takers in the world, he has one of the longest streaks ever recored in penalty kicks and is the first penalty taker even before Taremi. But yeah it was crazy how they let him take the penalty in that match instead of giving it to poor Mehdi and evidence of the mistake is that Hakan actually managed to miss for once so now you are right. LOL

Taremi has 6 goals in 10 games in Asian Cup.

Karimi 5 goals in 14 games(3 against Korea in one game)

How is Japan win biggest win of the last decade?

Taremi killed off Wales with an assist (our biggest win since Morocco) prevented us from a 6-0 drubbing vs England.

A one-off game is a one off game, not sure what your metric is for a player having one big game compared to others.

Is Eamon Zayed better than Taremi too for one hattrick against Esteghlal and then disappearing?

                  Welcome to the forum.
I am not an Inter fan, but I think most fans here acknoweldge the following:
1 - Inzaghi is a very good coach
2 - Thuram and Martinez are deserving main strikers
                  3 - I don't think I've seen any one say its a racist decision.

What most of us have commented on though is that it appears Taremi is not looked for - or at the very least he's not the first option when he is on the field.

                  Stick around!

Another thought: Very interesting that Inzaghi still prefers Mehdi over Arna given Arna's good form (I think Arna's scored in 4 of his last 5 starts). Shows the value Mehdi has for the coaching staff.

The most important part of the season still remains: the Serie A chase and Champions League. Mehdi will still get minutes, and will still have an opportunity to make an imprint.

Remember: fans are fickle. One good move (assist or goal) in a crucial game will flip fan reaction. The fans hated Arna last season and he was going to be surely gone but look at him now, still there, and thriving (but not thriving enough to get Mehdi's spot).

Arnautovic is 36 years old and close to retirement. Dar owjesh he was easily hitting 10+ goals in england and italy. If he was younger taremi would be deeper on the bench. At taremis age he scored 15 goal for some crap club.

Ok japan is second biggest win after wales. The game that roozbeh cheshmi won for us. Lol one off game? The best players have impact in the big games… lol. Ronaldo is known more for 02 final or a random league game against genoa?

oh and btw that karimi a midfielder is that close to a striker in stats in very impressive…. For ali karimi. Lol. Not sure what the point of that was… taremi double against oman or yemen is more special? Lol

and lastly you are comparing the sagdooni that is ipl to a knockout match against asian powerhouse? Beautiful.

With your own example, since Cheshmi scored vs Wales is he one of our better players?

You want him to start vs Senegal or Croatia bruv?

0 goals against the top teams of asia. Not even perfomances like Vahid Hash against japan. (Wow yaadesh bekheir…) and azmoun even has couple goals against Korea, and JB too!!! only goals against strong teams was uruguay in friendly and couple consolation goal (first one at 4-0) against england.

where was he against portugal? Or usa? Or qatar? Where was he when we needed the supposed best iranian player ever according to many of our dear ferends on pfdc? Where was he?

Not sure if you're serious but there is only so much two player can do when the other 9 players are useless. Taremi and Azmoun are both leagues above any other team melli player from 2016-2025. Of course they can bail us out against minnows in AFC with talent but as you can see, once they get to the world stage like a world cup or Serie A and actually face good players, their weaknesses get exposed. We need the level of all the other players to rise up. Its just the Iranian curse, we get 2-3 talented players in a generation that carry the rest of the team.

Let me tell you something, even if you had Daei, Karimi, Azmoun, Taremi, prime Mahdavikia, Hash, Bagheri, Nekounam, etc all in one team, we still would not get past round of 16 at the World Cup. Maybe we could win the asian cup, but on the global stage that teams talent and focus is probably on the same level as Leicester City.

You want us to consistently beat teams like Portugal? Usa? be like Japan and South Korea and buy 3-4 clubs across Europe that every year you can launder your best youth to as a launching pad to other Euro teams. Maybe then we can hope to beat Germany 4-1 like Japan did
