Can't say he has failed yet cause he hasn't been benched permanently and is still in the rotation, but you could say that he's past his prime cause he hasn't been able to live up to expectations in the role they signed him for. Also, chances of him starting ahead of Thuram and Martinez are slim to none, unless one of them goes down with an injury.

He was never going to start ahead of them seriously, only rotate with them. Anyone who thought he would didn't watch Serie A before he came over. Thuram has 46 G/A in 50 matches, his worth is almost $120 million. Inter will keep playing him even if he scores 0 goals because they wanna sell him eventually at high price. Lauti is also a similar story but he is staying long term as captain. His real competition has always been Arna/Correa and he's ahead of them in performance right now.Originally posted by FeLFeL View Post

Totally agree and tbh, we should be okej as long as he at least can keep this current postiion as the 3rd option. I mean let's face it. He's competing with last year top scorer who happens to be World Champion and also the other one who's the star from one of the worlds best team (France) and both are much younger than him. Yet, he's 32 and is almost there and the line between the starter and sub in his situation is very thin and if he had kept his head calm and managed to score couple of goals from his chances in the league, he could actually sersiusly be considered as a starter. What I'm saying is that Taremi is way ahead of Corera, Artanovic... but very close to Thuram and perhaps even Martinez. And also regardless what we think about Portugal, they guy has actually a history of beeing top goalscorer at a decent European level team/league and UCL and thats exactly what most of the experts and tv commentators always talking about when Inter is playing and he's on the pitch. So regardless some of you guys think about his time in Porto, that definitly matters and identify him as a top goal scorer. Last match I watched him playing, they Swedish commentators kept talking about him and repeatedly said that he's scored +90 goals in 180 games for Porto meaning basically a goal every other game which is way way high number.Originally posted by Nokhodi View Post
Way too early to say he has failed.
He is the 3rd choice which is where we expected him to be.
If he becomes 1st or 2nd choice, then he has punched above his weight and is ahead of the best striker from the world's no. 1 and no.2 national teams.

The difference being I've never seen a positive remark from you about any one of our players. I try to be impartial at all times and only say what I think is true and not put anyone on a pedestal for no reason, but also give credit and praises when called for. At the same time, I ineherently want to support our players and want to see them do well, that's why I'm on here - you seem to be on the opposite side of that and are only here to spread negativity. Hence why the term 'Hater' fits you, but it doesn't fit me, so no we're not the same...Originally posted by mehdi13 View Post

Bro I’m done with hero worship of athlete, especially this generation of iranian footballer that can’t end soon enough… I just wanna see TM win an asian cup before I die. I’ve even given up on big clubs/leagues, they’re not for modern persian player. If the current players aren’t good enough, I’m gonna call them out. If the players are asleep during critical games, I’m gonna call them out until I die. Kheily saade. I’m not being paid to sugarcoat shite performances. The thing I love about sports is that win/loss/success/failure are very clearly defined.Originally posted by FeLFeL View Post

Too early? He cost them a cup and more importantly they’re 2 points behind in table because he couldn’t score goals an academy player should be putting in net.Originally posted by Nokhodi View Post

I am with you on all that. I don't like to sugarcoat anything or worship anyone either. However, supporting a fellow Iranian who'se made it this far is a totally separate issue. I am the first person to call out Taremi's sootis and point out the facts in his situation at Inter, but I am also the first to celebrate when he does something special like his goal against AC Milan. Nobody understands all the BS one has to put up with as an Iranian, unless you're one. So everything considered, especially being brought up in a contradictory f**cked up society like the post revolution Iran with all the political, religious and cultural challenges, lack of a real system for athletes to thrive in, etc. I could go on forever on why our athletes don't live up to their full potential, it always starts in youth years and it's not just about training facilities and such, it's about culture, character building and discpline at an early age...but with all that said you still have to celebrate the fact that one of us has made it to a top team even as a 2nd string player. And yes you could wait and hope for someone in the next generation to do something special and I am sure there will be special players in the new generation, but if we don't fix the fundamental issues, which first and foremost starts with getting rid of the bloodsucking Mullahs, there will be many more wasted Ali Karimi's (generational talent), Mojahed Khaziravi's, Mehdi Taremi's, Sardar Azmoun's, etc.Originally posted by mehdi13 View Post

The future is bright though because even in the event that we're still ruled by these A-holes in 20 years - the world is connected more than ever, and the kids coming up already have a different mindset and aren't as isolated as we used to be when we were growing up in Iran. Also with so many Iranians living abroad, there will be players raised in other countries who will hopefully opt to play for TM, so there's always hope.

And the whole team misses sitters. Is he faultless? no.
Is it all on him? No.
