Beiranvand's Performance Against Qatar

Part of the GK discussion needs to be about how they coordinate with the defense.
Having an imposing GK with great positioning is great if we are a defensive team that will face few shots. Especially if we have some "ghool" defenders who are more physical then technical and will be getting stuck in. When your defense is competent enough to never be out of position and allow few chances it works. If we had this scenario. Maybe 3-4 shots against our goalie a game.
If we have a defense that is more fluid, less imposing but better on the ball, a distributing shotstopping goalkeeper is better. If we had a GK that could distibute the way Allison, Ederson, Onana do our defenders need to also be capable of passing on the ground also. The best defense would be not giving the other team the ball.
If we have a disconnect it leads to problems. Beiranvand can try to distribute nonchalantly but if our defenders are weak when facing our own goal when getting the ball it will be dangerous either way. This happened a few times last Asian cup. In that case it would be better if he blasted it far.
A lot of teams succeed or fail on this concept. Look at how disastrous Manchester United's defense was when they tried to pass out the back but De Gea couldnt causing turnovers.
In our scenario, having two slow defenders with Rezaian often halfway up the field and Mohammadi unable to trap a pass makes it a landmine for mistakes/disaster.

lol you mean the one where he stops playing and lifts his hand cause he thought the ball was out and then he gets scored on? xD Yea I saw that too...Originally posted by Nokhodi View Post
He (Abedzadeh) had a howler of a sooti in his new club just a few months ago.
Honestly, I didn't follow much of Amirs club performance, so you are probably much more knowledgable on that than me. But from what I could tell, he was fairly consistent, had plenty of clean sheets and was playing in Portugal/Spain. Even the second tier Spanish pro league is worth more and way above what the IPL can produce imho.Originally posted by FootballeKhob View Post
Just cause Beiro needs to be changed doesnt mean a very very overrated abdezadeh who really couldnt make it in IPL should get another chance. He makes more sootis than beiro and the only good thing about him is being good on the ball.
As for Amirs TM performance, as I mentioned, I think he only had one weak moment, which was the goal he got scored on against SK. Other than that (and even in that same game) he was pretty good. So I don't know how that justifies to sideline him, while Beiro has been inconsistent for years...

IMO he was amazing. Check out this save, would any other current TM goali be able to do that? Note how far that first shot was, and how much he had to stretch, yet he still managed to do (now compare this to Beiros performance on the 3rd Qatar goal...)
Amir had one weak moment against Korea, that cost him his position it seems. (I don't count that strange Algeria game, as pretty much every single TM player was horrible that day).
Meanwhile, Beiro is having bad moments at least once in every single game since WC2018. I was a huge fan of Beiro. Still am, but he should have been replaced years ago imo. If Abedzadeh is not viable, I'd prefer Niazmand. Either way, Beiro must go imo.

100%. He was very good but has gotten sloppy and too full of himself. I also think he was under CQ discipline which made him play way better. Honestly in every Asian cup game he looked bad. Its ok to have 1-2 bad games. But a NT goalie is not suppose to be so weak every game for so long. Give a chance to some others. Make him fight for his spot. That and his khaye maali of the rahbar and Islamic regime has both contributed to his downfall.Originally posted by DR Strangemoosh View PostHe's been the best goalkeeper since Abedzadeh overall but that doesn't mean if he deteriorates we shouldn't phase in a replacement

I agree with you. I think people are way too harsh on him. At worst he's an above average GK.Originally posted by Nokhodi View Post
He did what he had to do! That's all we can ask.
So many other goalies would be in the wrong spot, not strong enough, not long enough on those shots and crosses.
He is also better at reading the game (despite his sootis the past few months).
Our defense was ok against Spain, but should have done better considering we parked the bus
. Instead it was our midfield doing alot of work - Ebrahimi, Taremi, and Amiri were crushing the Spaniards physically and tiring them out.
You are right that Beiranvand caused the penalty in the Syria game, but that was because of a sooti by the defense beforehand. He also saved a penalty kick, something we have been desperate for sinec Abedzadeh times!

Two Asian champions league finals , two world cups and a heap of games and still performs a handball outside his box against an Asian minnow. Says it all really. Iran is not goali nation
talking about europe and persian goali is comedy.

Nokhodi jan I can attribute a save off of Ziyech for the Morocco game and Ronaldo's/Oman's penalty save.
I watched the highlights for Spain game and besides a very unorthodox punch away for a corner he had little to do with us icing Spain. In fact it was our defense esp Majid Hosseini.
As for Syria game we were cruising to an uninspiring win against a clueless in attacking Syria side. Beiranvand gave them a penalty which reduced our lifespans a few weeks.
