Simple summary, HK showed up with a tactic, just didn't have any sort of quality. We showed up expecting to win, and didn't try and stayed unfocused and careless throughout the entire game. We have zero tactics, and our "coach" other than yelling at Ezatolahi to hurry up when tying his shoes, did not provide a single piece of advice to the players.
We will probably play a similar squad continuing to rest Azmoun, Moharrami, Hajsafi, etc against UAE and then we can finally see our full squad.

Well said.Originally posted by Keano View PostDespite our frustration with today's shitty performance, it's essential to recognize that teams, just like players, experience highs and lows.
Reflecting on the 2022 World Cup, even champions faced setbacks, the most prominent example was Argentina losing to KSA in their first game, yet went in to beat their next opponents reaching the final and beating the heavily favored French side, hence winning the title.
This serves as a reminder that adversity doesn't define the journey, it's the resilience and determination to overcome challenges that ultimately lead to triumph.

Also credit to HK for scouting us well and finding out weaknesses (Dealing with high press and lack of pace of our CBs + MFs) and their players trying their best despite not being as talented as ours.
I wish GN gets his head out of his ass and makes better adjustments next time we are in a situation like this in a match.
Next match is crucial for us in terms of confidence. They have a good manager who knows our players well. We can't have another performance like this again.

Nice try, but we have absolutely nothing to rebound and last long in this cup. No coaching, not a good squad, even our stars are completely off
Edit:
Hmmmm the image isn’t showing. Anyway it was this character from “The adventures of Gulliver”.
“We are doomed”

Does anybody know where I can watch the entire post-game show from the Varzesh channel? I missed the majority of the discussion and it seems to be an insightful one

GN did so many mistakes in these past months. His last one was to play the same players over and over again in 2023,and just before the tournament and during AC doing so many changes in the line up that we end with an anarchic mess

Hi CheshmiOriginally posted by Roozbeh-G2006 View PostI can see the TM coaching team have tactically improved and this game was a tactical brilliance.
Preserve your players, don't collect any cards, injuries and come away with a win. Although a tie would have also sufficed.
Next game is easy tie, lose, win makes no difference. But of course we have to see how other groups do.
We are in control.
We are in a very strong position to go all the way. Congratulations to the TM staff.
Going by the comments here though, I can see we fans have a long way to go yet

Forgive my rant but I am sick and tired of heartaches of not even making the final of the AC for half a century. Not to mention never advancing from the group stage at the WC.Originally posted by Prowess View Post
Look at it this way: if we had lost to Iraq 2-1 we’d be losing our marbles. Japan, the elite powerhouse of Asia, with all the money, resources, planning, good players, excellent pre-tournament form, dropped a dud with their result.
At least 2 more games left, let’s see what happens..
Lets see what happens but they showed today that this is certainly not a championship team.

Our finishing was atrocious.
Shahriyar couldn’t score a goal if his grandmother was the goalie.
Ramin falling in the box while trying to score (trying to get a PK?)
multiple shots in the box that flew into the stands and into orbit.
i hope to god this was our match to get out all our quarks and jitters. Would have been nice to really put the fear of god into the KO opponents. Let’s see how we look on Tuesday against UAE.

This team could really use a Ted Lasso style coachOriginally posted by Erfan11 View Post
Losing your head after Iraq-Japan game is a true sign of unprofessionalism. You have a chance here to secure a convincing victory with as many goals possible to put fear in your opponents eyes but yet again they chose to be absolute crybabies. Weak mentality is not something you can change over the course of a tournament and if the reports coming out of the TM camp are true we were doomed from the start.
