With the Danish club he had a contract until December 2023. He was going to leave on a free transfer but they told him he would be benched indefinitely unless he renewed (because they were after a fat transfer fee from an Arab club, just like what happened now)! He didn't want to be out of shape/play before Asia Cup so he agreed.
He has been poorly advised, gotten injured at bad times, and who knows what else in his career.
