Ghadr nashnas, Cheshmi is a DM and completely excelled in that position for us in the tournament and has been pushed to be a CB and still performed well.Originally posted by Damavand View Post
The hell with all stats if it does not take into account if a player is slow as a turtle and makes fatal mistakes.
The only stat that really matters is the final score.
What other midfielder could perform as a CB for us like he has?

He plays as a cb every week for his club. You make it sounds like as if its Omid who plays cb. How many games has him being slow resulted in goals?Originally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post

I suggest you rewatch the games. Cheshmi has been exceptional for us except for one bad pass against HK in the middle of the field. In DM he performs very well.Originally posted by FootballeKhob View Post

Our best players in this tournament have been:
Shoja, Moharammi, Ezat, Cheshmi, Hajsafi, Ghaedi
They have been consistently very good if not great.
And who is talking about club performances? Taj are suffering from a depleted squad! Again he is forced to play as a CB because of his versatility.

Performed well ?? Its because of him we don't have Taremi tomorrow. He abandoned his post and went way up front and gave the ball away. Of course he is too slow to get back in his position in time, so somebody else had to stop the the Syrian who was pacing towards the goal and unfortunately it had to be our star forward.Originally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post

Isn't it ironic that in both games Cheshmi played, TM performed poorly( Hong Kong and Syria) and we played great in the other two games which he didn't play.
So instead of lecturing others and looking too much into useless stats, try to see what element caused us to lose Taremi for the all important game tomorrow.

Before the revolution you could not name your son "Amir" on paper.Originally posted by BacheLot View Post
i been meaning to ask you guys about this since the tourney began ... everytime the list the line-ups on TV before kickoff , i notice his name stated as Ardeshir on paramount broadcast at least..!
is that a faux pa by the broadcasters/afc ? or is that his real name on the passport..?
Same thing happened for my relative. We all call him Amir, but he has another name on paper.

No he has not. He leaves way to much space and any good through ball behind him is a huge chance for any team. He struggled to keep up with the pace at both games he played. He is good in the air but only at asian level but other than that he is not a good passer, his control of the ball is not good and he is super slow.Originally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post

For his club he wont play in the midfield when they are already so defensive. Mehdipour has saved their team the entire season

He is also certainly the Most to blame for our conceded PK..!
Left huge space for the Syrian attacker to run into behind him and into our box, nearly got Shoja Or Bey sent off too trying to make a last ditch effort to avoid conceding the equalizer .... all because of him not having proper CB spacial awareness or possibly laps in judgment ..!!? falling asleep on his CB duties?
overall though i agree he isnt that bad of a footballer and i suppose, he shouldnt be criticized too harshly in light of him being a MakeShift CB mostly trying to cover for the idiocy of GN for not taking near sufficient number of CB/CM to the tourney..!!
alls gotta say is that we are sooooo lucky to have Kannani back for the Japan clash...!!
cheshmi is still a decent DM option ... though even very with limited viewing of Asadi in action i'd apt to even prefer him to cheshmi in a DM/CM role..!!

If you have ever played football or understand the game you'll understand that Cheshmi as a DM in this tournament is a very good player. Not at Ezat level but very good nevertheless. You're criticising him as a CB which isn't his fault. He is a victim of his talents as a footballer to be played there. He isnt a top CB and nobody is suggesting that he is!

Ahura jan, even with the benefit of the doubt that he's rusty as CB, why the heck is he making a suicide run in the 90th minute like that? At minute 10 it wouldn't be as big of an issue. At minute 90 it's plain wrong.Originally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post

There were five players behind him when he made that run. A manager would expect such a run from a player that has generated space from a one-two combination.Originally posted by Nokhodi View Post

His pass was off but the principal was correct. Our players were static and he found space to run make an offensive play.
The formation and structure of the team when the ball was intercepted was incorrect, couple that with the fact that Mohebi and Taremi were closest to the ball and had the issue of what to do given they had yellow cards.

With respect Its you who doesn't know what you are talking about. Even as CM he is poor to say the least. Why do do you think he has been benched frequently in his club. If it was not for that wales goal he wouldn't even get invited to TM.Originally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post

I am beginning to suspect that this Cheshmi is your relative as you are pretty much the only one here defending him.
Over and out.

Seems youre the one not knowing what youre talking about, not Damavand. His entire career he has been a cb/cdm. Go and watch his pre wc 18 games and see how he was. Every pundit that i have seen mention cheshmi are just astonished by how clueless he is no matter what position. He is good enough for asian level as a cb in a back 3 but thats his max. There are tons of better cbs and cdms in the league they cluld have called up. Also ur «if you have ever played football you would understand» to Damavand just comes of cheap. He cost 2/3 goals vs england alone and was demolished in the air and should have had penalty against him. Farhad majidi benching him the entire year almost when they became champions also proves why he really aint that goodOriginally posted by AhuraMazda1 View Post
