I want to publicly apologize to you. I was hot back in November because of all that was happening in Iran. You were absolutely right I should have kept my political posts away from the football forums. I actually hadn't seen the warnings about not posting political items here until it was too late.

I attended all of Iran's matches and supported the team with all my energy. I would even stand up, walk around the stands and encourage everyone to chant because the players needed support. I learned more about what the players were going through while I was there. I ran into a friend of one of the players and he told me the players were under immense pressure and that they are all with the people but due to threats they hadn't been able to show as much solidarity as they wanted to. What's interesting is that the black wristbands we all saw photographed on the players wrists before the first game vs England were actually black socks the players had smuggled into the stadium and cut up to tie around their wrists.

I also heard the players livelihoods and families were threatened. Unfortunately so many Iranians didn't seem to understand this and would bad mouth the players.

That being said I think CQ completely blew it. I think If Skocic had stayed we would have progressed for certain to the next round. Anyways hoping for better days for our team and country.

Welcome back! I am glad that you realized your mistake and also you went to the games. It is very unfortunate how people have been treating our countrymen and heroes. They need to read firsthand accounts like yours!!! Players having to resort to smuggling socks into stadium to turn them into wristbands shows what type of brutal men these players are dealing with.
I doubt the results would have been any different with any other coach, this team had no chance due to current conditions and under normal circumstances I really believe we would at least qualified from the group. The regime stole our youth and is not stealing the future generations and their dreams...anyways I better stop or will have to mute/ ban myself

I actually thought they were too easy on him. They should have roasted him that the 6-2 defeat is the worst defeat we had in 64 years and was humiliating.

Khiabani brought up the fact that the lineup against England was totally wrong but Taj just ignored the point and talked about some other Mumbo Jumbo.

The starting lineup against the US was nothing to write home about either to which CQ also has to answer for but instead he is at home enjoying Christmas with his payment and bonus.

The job of the coach is left to the coach, not administrators - if they don't like the coach, then they can remove him. Any other comments on the specific decisions don't make sense to do since he doesn't even have coaching expertise.

Agreed, but Taj should have forced the coach to come and answer reporter's/people's questions after the WC instead of letting him go back to Portugal. CQ is nothing more than 2006 Bronko who ran back to Croatia after WC, except CQ is more por ro, and wants to extend his contract.

Taj claimed that he did not watch the Algeria game last summer!!! He acted like he was not even aware that Iran played Algeria last summer. Someone who two months later became the head of IFF on the platform of wanting to change the head coach!!!! Well it’s not like they are an elite Team like France or England. They are a mid level European team some where between Wales and Denmark, which we with a good coach, should be able to handle.

I really don’t think it will happen. Their club football would lose too much by joining the koofti afc.
