Big news for us because this will replace friendlies for the most part and that means we might actually face countries like Saudi/Japan/South Korea/Australia more than once a decade. I think football will "die" soon. Of course it is the most popular sport by far but the trend is very bad.

International football is getting boring, euro 2024 wasn't very interesting as a whole, lot of people enjoyed more Olympics 2024 than these.

World cup with 48 teams, continental cup with 24 teams, nation league with teams playing always the same teams, team with the same style of play..

Clubs competition aren't much better and seriously which players is exciting nowadays? Very few top players now compared to some years ago. Where are the messi cr7 etoo shevchenko henry van nistelrooy ronaldinho kaka of today?

Great news ,now we have tm all year round .
This will help smaller teams more than the big boys but it will definitely help tm more in the world cups then it dose in asia....

We have to wait to see how it is implemented. EUFA Nations still have 5-6 friendly slots outside of Nations League games. This will most likely replace current world cup qualifier format, so instead of WCQ we have Nations League + a few free friendly slots leading to the World Cup.

Also don't know about you but I rather face Saudi Arabia/Australia/Japan than some tokhmi Iran vs Angola friendly IFF always schedules. Those decent friendlies where we face Uruguay/Senegal only happen once every 10 years. This also means we actually face other pot 1/2 teams from our own confederation more often to show what our rank really is. Shitty coaches like Skocic/GN won't be able to scam their way through 20 wins against Afghanistan/Kuwait/Syria anymore. Net benefit depending on how its done IMO.

For me the AFC system does not work.

I agree on the travel times. I'm expecting it to be like how it is done in Champions league elite, with continent split between West/East until knockouts, then having a home and away game so it is fair for both sides having to travel.

Again it all depends on implementation so I'll hold off on judgement for now but I do know AFC is a complete flop so we'll have to wait and see in the next few months or so as more details come out

CR7 and Messi dominated for almost 2 decades which made us forget how football really was before them. I can't tell you if it's going to be better or worse with all these tournaments but I think Asia benefits more from a nations league style thing more than any other continent.

1st all these euro countries are like super close to each other in like 2 hours you basically go from one end to the other ..

AFC does not have enough talent , unless the format is that the top 4 are in one groups

so it be Iran , Australia, Japan , S.Korea , yea than that works …. And the winner goes to the champions and the last team get regulated to the lower groups which probably be

BTW we forget Taj is a vice president in AFC lol, he probably is involved in the making of this.

The most likely scenario is like how AFC champions league is like, with group stages being West Asia/East Asia and knockout stages being a round of home/away.

Either that or choosing a country to host that is in the middle of both countries.

I can't see it being done any other way, otherwise there are 8+ hour travel times between and it will be a clusterfuck lol
