^ Mokhlesim Agha Amir. I know it is very frustrating and I share the same thoughts. But at the same time, I am trying to stay positive to the end, and give him vs my thoughts the benefit of a doubt.

One thing for sure, he has never had the full team this long, comes the June preparation stage as the league will be done and gone. Let's wait and see. Maybe we'll learn something we don't know ...

    Mansoor Khan,

    What preparation stage?
Quieroz has AGAIN left Iran on vacation!

This man comes back to Iran when a game is approaching and immediatly leaves when the final whistle is sounded.
This man has wasted two years, has "managed" first ever defeats to Lebanon and Uzbekistan, and screwed our chances of direct qualification through the EASIEST group possible.

Had ANY IRANIAN coach done all this, not in two years, but after 6 months, he would have been BEHEADED in a public place.

And, yes, I've been saying for two years that, under Queiroz, we play WALKING PACE FOOTBALL.
Unfortunately, I don't see that changing come June, in the HEAT and HUMIDITY of Doha which will slow down even Real Madrid...

If Queiroz wanted to implement one-touch, modern football with young players, he should have done it in the past two years.

Let me first start with my quote in first post:

Queiroz was hired to qualify Iran to world cup and beyond. That was his job definition.

But he has two tasks embedded in his job definition as well:

    a) He has to get the players reach the ceiling of their potential, and perhaps a bit above. That is what a “great coach” should do regardless, or else he would remain among “other available options”.

    b) Facing the transition state in our national team and with aging star players, he has to bring in youth into the team to compensate or else he would face slow but experienced team that would only go so far in a competition.

Now, the question remains: Is Queiroz failing to achieve the two critical factors above to reach his goal?
To me, the main reason Queiroz is facing "possible" failure (or perhaps I should say "most likely", according to Agha Majid's listed stats and "so far performances") is the point b in above quote. I know Martin disagreed about that to be the part of his "job", but here is the reason:

Why is it that we have trouble with most arab teams while they get humbled when facing East Asian giants or European teams? SPEED.

When Carlos decides to select and insist Iran's midfield that played in 2006 World Cup (!!!), we basically kill the speed, energy, and creativity in the whole team.

How many times we have to see a ball reaching ALONE Gucci, with "good luck note" included in the ball? How many times we saw an army of Iranian players counter attacking with our U22 team, and how many teams we have seen that with our TM?

Is our midfield capable of producing "fast" game to counter Arab's style of play? No! Why? to me it is point b.

Perhaps time is already lost and too late (not to me), but had Carlos paid more attention to this point and injected more youth next to couple of our Euro based players, I had more hopes comes June even if still had the same track record.

I can't help but day dream what if Carlos and Mansourian had worked "together" and produce the same U22 style for our TM e.g. Putting Haghighi, Rahmani, Mosalman, and Sadeghian next to Dejagah, and have plenty of options for last remaining offensive spot along with golden subs among Gucci, Jahanbakhsh, Alishah, Gharibi, or even Shojaei and Khalatbari.

If Queiroz fails at the end, he should look back and see why he missed to reach his goal and here it is; ESPECIALLY against slow and dirty football style of arab teams.

We saw how U22 team with fast and great passing style of play did not even give a chance to Qatar and even dirty style of Turkish team to make any difference in the game. We DICTATED our style into the matches, and that is what Carlos should have done.

Having said that, I believe we still have a chance. Carlos still has one more chance to avoid failure; The preparation stage before June games.

He will have plenty of time this time around to "dictate" his game and coaching skill to full extend. If he succeeds to get our boys prepared and prevail, great. Else, I believe we should immediately transit to Mansourian and " most of his team" for future.

@ Doc ,which of the bellow do you believe in :

1- Good Iranian coaches are better than Good Forign coaches .
2-For Iran,Good Iranian coaches are better than good forign coaches .
    3-GN is better than CQ.
4-GN is better than CQ for IRAN.
5-CQ is a wrong forign coach, but a right forign coach is best choice for IRAN.

    ^ many thanks.

well, what do you know .... GN's stats are even better than the other two coaches against arab teams:
    wins - 8
    draws - 3
    losses - 0

besides he seems to be the last coach who won against qatar too. in fact the other two coaches werent half as successful as our own vatani chap. huh .... go figure.

so much for the supposed "inferiority of vatani coaches" compared to the "untouchables" from across the borders. This must be in bizzarro world. coz no vatani chap can equal, let alone better, the records of great masters and giants from the land of the blue-eyed, right?

^ lol. you seem to be a bit alien with all the peripheral issues of coaching and football. ironic that most famous coaches like fergie, wenger, that moaning idiot moan-rinho, ... do this quite often (the last idiot has made it into a whole routine when his teams meet strong teams). afterall, arent you the one who puts them on a pedestal?

really, you shd be aware of these things even more than me.

another part of CQ's half-assed campaign strategy is his interaction with media and pre-game prep, with emphasis on refs and calls.

the coach shd put pressure (indirectly) on the referees before our games. the same way many successful coaches in top level football do and have done for years. starting from his own boss, fergie.
before the game he shd say things like "we hope the avoidable or unintentional mistakes and calls dont work against us or dont cancel our legitimate goals or moves, as we've been hurt by these before, on many occasions". something to this effect, which doesnt directly accuse any refs (use of terms like unintentional or unlucky), but it still drives the point that on many occasions (against uzbeks, in kuwait, .... etc) many vital calls have gone against us and we will not let it slide by without calling them out. or his 2 game suspension for something totally small and negligible.
even in passing he MUST mention these two legitimate goals in his pre-game speeches. he MUST, but without directly ponting at the refs.

I really wonder why he hasnt done this before our games, especially against arabs.

another issue is play-acting and time wasting that he shd mention this BEFORE every game (post game is almost useless) against arabs. he SHOULD make an issue of this and bring light to this to put the onus on the refs to not be so lax about it.

he has worked with fergie and shd be exposed to what tactics coaches use even before the opening whistle. why doesnt he do this?
hell, his own compatriot is a master of making a bloody mountain out of a non-existent mole-hill (moan-rinho) even when he has no case. CQ, by jove, HAS plenty of cases and cause to say all this! and yet .... !

we paid the price for a complete professional and european experience. but in return we've got only slightly more than half of the deal from CQ!!!
    come on man.
