you either have very low esteem for God ... or somehow too high for trousier.
But, hey, I'm perfectly fine with the french man if he is selected.
unlike many other foreign names mentioned, he wont be starting with a total BLANK SLATE.
he know a bit about our football, has faced us before and recently, and is also familiar with the region's demands and expectations.
if it IS true, then I hope with get him instead of any of the vatani chaps
but knowing IFF loves drama, we may yet find someone like MK or Jalali becoming the frenchie's assistant to help with the more local input & data.
which , again, makes perfect sense to me.
so any pairing of Troussier with either jalali or MK or ghotbi shd be pretty awesome ... given our circumstances. and we can offer them the long contract that they all look for.

Troussier added to the list by Kafashian (flashbakc?). Compared to MK he's God

^ LOL. true.
"badbakht" situations beget "badbakht" solutions !!!
or as we say in farsi : Lengeh kafsh dar biyabaan ghanimat ast
I'm ok with any of the following:
MK
Ghotbi
Shagholam
I am pretty sure we're not gonna get a farangi chap.
and armin has correctly narrowed our focus to not 3 games, but the NKorea game only.
if we dont win that one, we might as well keep ahmadinejad as coach ... wont make a diff !
aaaah. those missed opportunities when we SHOULD HAVE taken a few more risks than be content with a sedate & cautious approach!
common sense and EXPERIENCE ( if we had any! ) shd teach us, the earlier we take risks, the less stress we'll have to go through near the end. and in worst cases, we'd still have time to repair any damage, if any comes our way.
hala darim choobesh ro mikhorim !!!
=================================
anyway, I wanted to discuss a matter here with the more mature fellows about the coaching.
I wanted to post it in general forum, but I came across so many idiots and numbskulls I just gave up! having a contrary opinion is one thing ( that, I can take. as I endure martin and gang
), but you cant be a total blank in the head.
some guy's explanation for his indignation and disgust of MK as a candidate is this brainless statement:
"why the F*** do they pick MK when saipa is 10th in the IPL league standings. "
now, what would you say to such a fool?
do u take time to explain "haji ... you shd be praising MK for bringing saipa UP to 10th after being the rock bottom team, 18th under the decorated German coach... in a matter of 9-10 weeks".
or to the idiots who say prize-winning loads of dog turd like: "He failed w olympic team"
would u take time to ask this fool "and exactly how many times have we been qualifying for olympics, that this incompetent devil broke the cycle of successful qualifications & failed us? and wasnt it MK, who DID take us to the FINAL round of olympic qualifiers at least ... unlike MANY other coaches"
( highly reminiscent of other foolish remarks on denizli and pp , btw )
you think it'd go into his head?
I doubt it!
and there are PLENTY of fools who jump to speak with absolutely no knowledge of what crap comes out of their mouth (fingers ... actually ) !!!
there are some REALLY absurd comments that simply made me laugh.
anyway, the question is:
we're pretty sure the coach is a vatani chap, and not an ajnabi.
we also know the odds are pretty much stacked up AGAINST us and overcoming these odds, even if we get the third spot is quite low.
now, IF this guy somehow manages to lead us to a third spot ( I'm not even counting a direct qualification) against such odds, shd we retain him?
or force him out and try to bring someone else ... knowing this IFF isnt very intelligent in negotiating and finding good coaches anyway?
afterall, if our vatani chap can turn things around to this extent, how far shd we trust his abilities which by that time will be PROVEN?
keep him for the play-offs against bahrain/uzbeks ?
keep him up to NZ play-off only?
or any further?
Q2- what if he gets the DIRECT spot for us ( instead of a play-off one) ?
would that encourage ppl to retain him?
or will they run after a foreign coach , even though this chap has done the near impossible ?

hala eenghadr badbakht shodeem ke "some" coaching knowledge is a plus, ha?Originally posted by The-Red View PostWe need a shock + enthusiastic coach+ some coaching knowledge would be a plus.

I did.. I just don't remember which thread it was.. I mean we have had like 100 threads on the issue since Saturday..
but seriously, I think the next coach will be in a "win/nothing to lose" position. If TM wins, he is the hero.. if TM doesn't, well, it was Daie who had messed up..
the next coach of TM will not have much pressure, nothing to lose and A LOT to gain.Last edited by BehzadB; 03-30-2009, 09:03 PM.

You know guys, more I think about these options more confused I get!!!!...And I see more weaknesses than strengths in them
Ghotbi is popular as yashar said and others said and knows the Koreans will, but I doubt he can deliver what we want in such a short term...I am not sure if Ghotbi should even take the job. I mean the guy was not given the job when he was the nominee and now that we are in a mess, we are calling him? To do what, a miracle?
GN should NOT even accept the job b/c of Esteghlal...He is as qualified as the other two, but If he fails, his career is over, both with SS and TM. He will be taking a huge risk IMO.
And our good old MayeliKohan, which I had a lot of respect for as a player, but as a coach, God help us...I mean true that he is a very offensive minded coach compare to most other Iranian coaches and that's great, but no one has been fired from a coaching job more than this guy...I mean TM, Omid, Saipa (2), Foolad, and the list goes on....He has been fired from almost every job he has had? What does that tell us? I am not quite sure, but since we are only talking about 3 games 11 days in a 2 months time, he is as good as any other option, or as bad for that matter.
I guess my knowledge is too limited to tell which one should be the "choice", and I see all three as bad as the next guy, but the question is which one gives TM the best chance to win at Nkorea!!!! Remember, we are really NOT talking 3 games,,,IMO, we should really just be worried about the NKorea game since the last 2 could be irrelevant if we do NOT win in Pyongyang.
Now, keeping everything in mind and if someone was to put a gun to my head and tell me to pick, I would pick Ghotbi, but not because he is the best choice, but because he is "a" choice.
We need a shock + enthusiastic coach+ some coaching knowledge would be a plus.
I am not sure why no one is mentioning Luka's name....I mean didn't we all agree that he was one of the best coaches who worked in Iran in the past decade along side Denizly perhaps, but Mustafa effendi is not an available, but isn't Luka an option? or is it because he wears a tie and drinks? Why isn't he considered?

branko would be a DREAM, not just a solution.Originally posted by Martin-Reza View PostI think Branko would be a great solution. I know he isn't popular, but he knows the team and like in the past can deliver a win in Pyongyang and home victory vs. UAE.
Bahrain in playoffs wouldn't be sth new to him and he even steered us to a 3-0 home victory over New Zeland in 2003
.
i don't think he'll ever come to Iran again though.

2-Good foreign coaches have conditions and expectations that IFF most likely unable to guarantee.
1- IFF has no money. Saipa who sponsor TM, has paid for AliDaei contract (fully paid), and Short of direct contribution by PEO and higher ups, there is no fund to hire expensive coach.
According to rumor Ghotbi has offered to coach for free these 3 games if IFF award him with 2 year contract afterward . IFF has already rejected similar offer from GN. If it was not for recent anti Aliabadi comments by MKohan, he would have been already TM coach, he is still front runner.
Seems to me at this juncture it’s up to Saipa to decide.
interesting... I think aliabadi is going to let Kafashian make this decision if they (AN/aliabadi) themselves don't have anyone they specifically want. and they do that so they can blame him (kafashian) if we fail...
I think with the way we lost to KSA the whole system is shell shocked.. .
Daie's fireing, like his hiring was a mistake.. the AN gang fired daie only because they realize how much Daie is resented by people and how they will resent him and his men if TM doesn't make it to the WC..
If AN/Aliabadi really want to increase their popularity among the football fans, they ought to go out there and hire a famous foreign coach and pay him the money..

Ghotbi is the only somewhat acceptable solution.
But that these people are considered shows IFF didn't make a calm decision. Kafashian is scared like hell and only wants to save his own ass by doing "something".
If you have no good alternative (or don't want or cannot spend money to get one), then don't fire the coach.
Where shall our football go when we try to get back former failed coaches.
Plainly idiotic, sorry.
Damned...It is Tuesday morning , and I have just realized that Daei has been sacked...
I agree that Kafashian , who never struck me as a solid leader of any kind , is doing the same mistake again...Daei selection as a coach was done with urgency and not much thought , and the next one will be the same....
Simply put , the lacky of long term planning and short sightended ( perhaps due to the immense pressute) is making these people stumble and fall. This does not augur well for Team Melli.
About the candudaes: I have a soft spot for ghalenoei , but it will be a mistake to select him ...and also it is really not fair on Esteghlal.
Mayeli-Kohan should be as far away as possible from Team Melli , but with his connection he might get the job......Act of desperation and another era of heart ache , turmoil with this Haji...
Ghotbi ....!!!!!!! Hmmmm....... Best of luck......
The Vatani coach option is not really grate at this stage, but then again....what can be done if they non-vatani don't want to work with IFF ???

ahmadinejad can try to campaign for his elections by winning people's heart in assigning a new coach who the people will admire, be it a relatively big named coach or be it ghotbi who is very popular in iran.
so i wont be surprised if ghotbi is chosen as well, but i would take his selection with a pinch of salt....
direct orders from president that ghtobi be the new coach..
direct orders from the president that karimi should be invited to TM..
etc..

If I wanted to bet, Although not Ideal, yet , I would bet on Ghotbi to get the Job !
IFF, and the whole Iranian officials are in " Big time panic "....., as Payrovani believed the chance TM going to WC, is between 10 % to 15%.....
IFF, stated the new coach will be Iranian...as they believed the timeing would be impossible for a foriegn coach, as well as non-practical.
They have consulted all, including Heshmat Mohajerani.....and have come up with three names , in which, it is said Ghotbi and mayeli-Kohan to be the top two candidates...........Apparantly Ghallenoie, has failed the test already, and would not be an interesting choice for IFF......
mayeli-Kohan has not asked for Money, yet has insisted he wants a long term contract, and not just for three games....
Ghotbi on the contrary, has offered to coach the remaining games free !...
Considering, the only problem, last time around about Ghotbi, was his nationality,......it would be very hard for IFF,and Ahmadinejad, to put aside Ghotbi this time around.......
In desperate times, desperate majors are needed........and only Ghotbi would be the logical choice......and has the most chance to keep the kafashian's Job for him.as both mayeli-Kohan and ghalenoie are ,going back to passed.
1-His Knowledge of Asia,and both Koreas,and WCQ.
2-His knowledge of Iranian football, and players.
3-His English language to communicate with RotteMuller.
4-His previouse Majority vote he had, from the last selection period.
5-His higher persentage of approval among fans.
6-His Motivation Techniques, and The least Hashieh.
I would bet on Ghotbi , for sure !

Anyway I analyze it, I find that very clearly Ghotbi is the best man for the job. I don't even see why you guys are going back and forth on this issue.

Beside that, there are a couple of foreign coaches with past experience similar to Peseiro's.
I'm not saying they are all good, but the likes of Denizli, Begovic or even Haan could at least be approached and not being ruled out from the beginning. It's another question if they will be chosen or really are available in the end.
Beside that, we have Rutemoeller who meanwhile knows our players and style and several possible domestic assistants, which could easily help a foreigner to prepare a team well within 10 weeks.
