DD jaan, I remember how so many here, talked about Branko as he did not deserve us,and we were number 15 in the world, and haveing many top european based players, and all.............Originally posted by Doctor DOOM View Post
yup.
I agree.
I say we go to the top & hire Clint Eastwood.

King of the Asia, and going through our group ,and pasing the mexicans and tieing with Portugal.....so many dreams, and expectations.....
now, after loseing in youth games, and loseing in OMID games, and loseing in Asian games...................
Our hopes of our nation should be dependent of a thired class, over used, no-body !,from africa ???..................
We have 3 years to a game of significance...............lets give our 70 million papulation ,and more gloriouse history than bahrain, a little more chance.

I agree with adesor and rage both.
first of all, he has to prove himself to be consistent.
which means he shd score as many ( or close to ) goals he did , last season. then he can prove to be a consistent striker.
.... which brings us to ... umm ... nowhere.
why?
enayati did prove to be a consistent top scorer for 3 seasons repeatedly before moving to uae. and we all saw he isnt all that successful ( goal scoring wise, mind you ) in notching up goals in games.
which leaves us with a reputation like crummy qatar or bahrain, but with no real gain! howzzat for a kick in the nuts ?

secondly, I think investing in Iranian youth players pays off much better dividened than hiring a gun.
it increases the motivation among our youth. they will see their chance at TM and will work much harder to shine.
clubs win. TM wins. and most importantly, our youth teams win too.
The only thing is how to go by this.
I suggested a loosely constructed method of investing and developing the youth.
1- force all premier and first div clubs to have at least 2 under 21 STRIKERS with one always in the final 18 of each game. which in a way forces the clubs to use them, even if not regularly, but at least in some serious games.
2- Follow Jalali's plan to develop the youth SYSTEMATICALLY. region-wise and locally first. and then slowly filter the best to reach a pool of 20-odd best players for each category ( strikers included )
3- forget FIFA ranking and stop pushing for wins in the next 9-10 months as these are the rebuilding months and we shd try many strikers in TM ( seniors A and B, as well as OMID )... and they need time to show themselves and fit in.
4- Hold worthy and sizable awards for both high performing youth players AND THEIR CLUBS every half season , to incite more motivation in development.
5- Have the media to monthly zoom in one youth player in each category and give them decent coverage in terms of data, performance, .... etc.
6- and of course, the above-mentioned call up of all Iranian born players in europe and elsewhere . trip and accomodation taken care of by IFF , brought in for regular camps ( 3 monthly, maybe ) to show their stuff.
I cant think of anything else. but I'm sure there are other things we ( IFF , actually ) can do to help things along.
any more ideas?

I think that would be a poor Resume of Iranian football. Nothing to do with patrioism at all but if we start today with him, tomorrow we star with the other and so on.. then we end up being like Qatar etc..
Give the youth of our country more chances dont take it away form them!

Does he consider himself(and, is he) culturally Iranian? If given the option between the two, would he play for Iran instead of Nigeria(hypothetically)? If both answers to this question are yes, then there is a case for his inclusion.
However, I just cannot believe a Nigerian who has lived in Iran for 3 or 4 years is Iranian. He did once mention that his hope is to play for Nigeria at the 2010 WC. To me, this indicates that Iran isn't his first priority...

I think we live in a global world today. If Olerum gets Iranian citizenship, I think he then should have a fair shot to be considered for TM. To be honest I don't think he is the best forward in Iran at present. But if he freely decided to get Iranian citizenship, he should have a fair access, like anyone else who was born or otherwise got an Iranian citizenship.

truth is the kids that are somewhere good and HAVE a future will not play for tm they will go for their shot elsewhere.
I do not see any special thing in Olerum and even if he got his papers I do not see him scoring a fix spot to fulfill anyones spot really..

Olerum's issue & "Hired Gun" approach
Some ppl are lobbying for giving Olderum Iranian citizenship for express purpose of filling the void in TM's forward line up.
I am against it. what would be the difference between us & teams like qatar, bahrain, saudi, lebanon, .... ? afterall, arent these teams the butt of our ridicule and jokes when we see some african, south american or european player in their national teams?
I do NOT want to be compared to any of the above.
what IFF can do is call up all IRANIAN-born kids and youngsters from europe ( paid trip to Iran by IFF ).
hold a camp for them and let them show their stuff ( along with videos or ... whatever they can gather from their records and games ) in training.
and let a panel of experts decide to either invest in them or not.
THIS makes more sense and is more DIGNIFIED & RESPECTABLE than the "hired gun" approach.
Any suggestions?Tags: None
