Persianfootball.com – ZAGREB, Iran’s latest European legionnaire is Sadegh Moharrami, who signed a 5-year-deal with Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb.

The right-back comes from Iranian champions Persepolis Teheran on a free transfer, where the 22-year-old established himself as key player of the league dominators within the last two years.

The former u-17, u-20 and u-23 international was highly recommended to the club by Croatian Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic, saying he has the potential to become Dinamo’s best foreign signing of the decade and a player who will accumulate a high transfer fee in a few years.

Moharrami is the latest Iranian to join a European club after talented left-footers Omid Noorafkan and Ali Gholizadeh joined Charleroi shortly before the World Cup.

All three youngsters weren’t part of the convincing Iranian World Cup team, but are hopeful to be nominated for the Asian Cup in January, where Iran will face Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam in the group stage.

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz repeatedly has made clear in the past that European based players have an advantage in the fight for a national team spot.
