AFC – MUSCAT, A late Carlos Eduardo header saw Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal secure a point in a dramatic 1-1 draw against Persepolis from the Islamic Republic of Iran in the 2017 AFC Champions League Group D opener at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Al Hilal centre-back Abdullah Al Hafith had squandered the best chance of the game with a header from a free-kick shortly before half-time but with just over 20 minutes to play Mohsin Mosalman’s low shot from outside the area looked to hand the Iranian side what would have been a victory against the run of play.

But it was Brazilian forward Carlos Eduardo’s intervention, eight minutes from time, from a Nicolas Milesicorner which eventually secured Al Hilal a point.
