Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iranian international Ashkan Dejagah is confident ahead of Iran’s World Cup qualifier clash against Guam on Tuesday while he believes the Persians can qualify to the next round as the group winner.

“We had a very good win against Turkmenistan on Thursday in Tehran. We had a lot of goal scoring opportunities and we could have scored more; however a 3-1 win is also good. We have climbed to the top of our group and a win against Guam on Tuesday will make us the favorite to win the group and qualify to the next round,” Dejagah told ISNA.

The Iranian had problems obtaining Guam visa as the country is a U.S. territory and several of Carlos Queiroz men including Ehsan Haji Safi and Alireza Haghighi couldn’t travel to Guam.

“Everybody knows what happened during the last week and we will not have a couple of our key players against Guam due to visa issues. But this was not the only problem; we had to make a very long trip to Guam while the game will be held on artificial pitch. Despite all these difficulties we will try our best to get the three points and make our fans happy,” Dejagah added.

Iran, who is currently at the top of 2018 World Cup qualification Group D with 11 points. will take on Guam at the GFA’s National Training Center in Harmon on Tuesday.
