Tasnim – TABRIZ, Iran opened its AFC U-16 Championship 2016 Qualifiers campaign with a 3-1 win over Lebanon on Wednesday.

In the match held in Tabriz’s Yadegar Emam Stadium, Vahid Namdari found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 9th minute.

Mohammad Reza Ghobeishavi made it 2-0 three minutes later and Mohammad Sardari scored Iran’s third goal in the 47th minute.

Mahmoud Kaawar scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute.

Iran football team will play India next in the AFC U-16 2016 Qualifiers on 18th September.

The tournament is the qualification phase for next year’s AFC Under-16 championships, where the youngsters will then try to reach the FIFA 2017 Under-17 World Cup, which will be held in India.
