Voiceoftheemirates – DUBAI, Al Wasl achieved a valuable victory over their host Bani Yas with two goals to nil, in the match that brought them together on Friday evening at Bani Yas Stadium, as part of the sixth round of the UAE Pro League, so that the Emperor returns to the path of victories and temporarily tops the standings.

Al Wasl decided the match during the first half, after Mehdi Taremi opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Cameron Puertas added the second goal in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.

Al Wasl raised its tally to 13 points, temporarily topping the ADNOC Pro League standings on goal difference, while Bani Yas continued its struggles after its tally remained frozen at one point in last place.

Mehdi Taremi gives Al Wasl the lead
Bani Yas started the match with intense attacking pressure, trying to take advantage of the home ground and crowd factors, and succeeded in creating a number of opportunities during the first few minutes, but lacked accuracy in the final touch in front of the goal.

Contrary to the initial flow of the game, Al Wasl managed to capitalize on one of their attacks to open the scoring in the 11th minute, when Nicolas Jimenez sent a decisive pass to Mehdi Taremi, who finished the ball with a single touch into the net, giving his team the advantage.

Bani Yas tried to get back into the game and equalize, but Al Wasl maintained their composure, before delivering another blow to the home side in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, after Cameron Puertas received the ball inside the penalty area and fired a powerful shot that found the back of the net, ending the first half with Al Wasl leading 2-0.

Al-Qaim thwarts Bani Yas’ attempts
In the second half, Bani Yas intensified their efforts to reduce the deficit, and almost reached Al Wasl’s goal in the 54th minute, but the post stopped Godwin’s shot, denying the home team a goal that would bring them back into the game.

Bani Yas continued their attacking pressure, but Al Wasl goalkeeper Horkas shone in the 59th minute, saving a dangerous attempt and keeping his net clean.

In contrast, Mehdi Taremi almost extended Al Wasl’s lead with a third goal in the 70th minute, after receiving a superb pass from Fabio Lima, and dribbling past the goalkeeper, but he shot the ball into the post, missing another opportunity for the Emperor.

The remaining minutes saw mutual attempts without any change in the score, so Al Wasl emerged with an important away victory, through which they gained three valuable points in the race to compete for the top spot in the ADNOC Professional League.
