AFC – MOSCOW, Alireza Faghani of the Islamic Republic of Iran refereed the 2018 FIFA World Cup Group E tie between Serbia and Brazil at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow on Wednesday.

The crucial tie between the five-time world champions and the White Eagles was Faghani’s second appointment in Russia 2018, after overseeing the Group F tie between defending champions Germany and Mexico on June 17.

The experienced Iranian is appearing in his second FIFA World Cup and was assisted by compatriots Reza Sokhandan and Mohammadreza Mansouri – who assisted Faghani in Mexico’s 1-0 win over Germany.

Meanwhile, Japanese referees Ryuji Sato and Toru Sagara were the fourth and fifth officials in Tuesday’s Group C tie between Australia and Peru, which ended 2-0 in favour of the South Americans.
