PressTV – QUJING, Iran national under-20 football team, more commonly known as Javanan, has sustained a loss at the “Chang’an Ford Cup” CFA International Youth Football Tournament Qujing 2016 in China, going down to the Mexican side.

On Sunday, the Iranian squad, which had defeated the hosts 4-2 in its opening match on September 9, lost 0-2 to the Central American outfit at the end of a game played in the southwestern Chinese city of Qujing.

The “Chang’an Ford Cup” CFA International Youth Football Tournament Qujing 2016 started on September 7, and will finish on September 15.

The tournament has attracted national under-20 football teams from China, Iran, Kazakhstan and Mexico.

Javanan is preparing for the 2016 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championship, which is scheduled to be held between October 13 and 30 in the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom of Bahrain.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is drawn in Group C of the group stage of the forthcoming sports event, and is pitted against defending champion Qatar, Asian powerhouse Japan and Yemen.

The hosts are drawn in Group A, and have joined 2012 champion South Korea as well as Saudi Arabia.

Group B constitutes of 2014 runner-up North Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Vietnam. Australia, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan form Group D.

The 2016 AFC U-19 Championship acts as the AFC qualifier for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, with the top four teams qualifying.

Since South Korea has already qualified automatically as the AFC U-19 Championship host, the fifth-placed team will also qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup if the South Korean team finishes in the top four.
