Tehran Times – ISFAHAN, Iranian international defender Ehsan Haji Safi has signed a one-year contract with his former team Sepahan to return to Isfahan after a year season spell at FSV Frankfurt.

The 26-year old, who joined FSV Frankfurt from Sepahan last summer, left the German side following its relegation to Germany’s third division league.

“I was eager to remain in European football but unfortunately, there was not a decent offer for me and I decided to return to Sepahan. I would like to thank Tractor Sazi and Esteghlal officials who were interested in signing me but I’m more comfortable to play and stay in Isfahan,” Haji Safi told reporters.

“With Abdollah Veisi in charge, Sepahan can return to glory days and I will assure the fans that the team will be back at the top this season,” he added.

Haji Safi has scored two goals in 27 appearances for FSV in last season’s 2. Bundesliga. His superb long-range goal against Freiburg nominated as one of the best goals of the month.

Haji Safi has represented Iran at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, in addition to Sepahan at the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup.

He has scored six goals in 77 caps for Iran.
