Tasnim – TABRIZ, Iran’s Tractor Sazi head coach Toni Oliveira feels he is to blame for his team’s defeat against Nasaf Qarshi in Tabriz on Tuesday.

Tractor Sazi was defeated against the Uzbek football team 2-1 in Group D of the AFC Champions League in Tabriz’s Yadegar-e Emam Stadium.

“First of all, I have to say I am responsible for this defeat,” the Portuguese coach told the reporters in the post-match news conference.

“We were the better team in this match and wanted to win but failed to score despite several chances we had. I am satisfied with the way we played, but I am not happy with the result,” Oliveira added.

“I am very sad but we have to prepare for our next matches. When I came to Tractor Sazi, it was fifth in the Iran Professional League but we are the first team at the moment,” he concluded.

Nasaf Qarshi coach Ruziqul Berdiev said he is happy because of the win against Tractor Sazi but insisted they have not advanced to the next stage yet.

“We were lucky in the first half but scored twice in the second half. I think it is soon we talk about the next stage,” Berdiev said in the post-match news conference.

“Tractor Sazi had several good chances in the first half, but we were the better team in the second half,” he added.

“We had come here to win the match and I am happy since we’ve achieved our goal. The Tractor Sazi’s fans made things difficult for us in this match,” Berdiev said.
