PFDC – TEHRAN – The Iranian Football Federation set two friendlies in the upcoming months to prepare for the ongoing FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Asia.

Team Melli will face Syria on the 25th of August just ahead of the important clash with Lebanon in September. Syria hasn’t participated in a football match for almost a year, staying close to 130th in the world.

North Korea will be the second opposition the Iranians will face on October 10th to prepare for the qualifier six days later in Tehran against South Korea.

The Korean’s last match took place in March where they defeated Turkmenistan 2-1 and Palestine by a brace. They currently rank 89th in the world while Iran stay comfortably at fourth in Asia, 45th in the world.

Although the venues have not been officially announced by the IFF, due to unstable conditions in Syria and North Korea the friendlies will most likely take place in Tehran.

Iran will play their second World Cup qualifying match against Qatar on the 12th in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
