Queiroz: Iran has the means to qualify for World Cup
PFDC – TEHRAN, Carlos Queiroz confirmed the deal with the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) in a short interview with Portugese news agency “Lusa” in Tehran on Monday.
“We resolved all details now and I will work for the Iranian national team for the next three-and-a-half years”, Queiroz, who will lead Team Melli until 2014, is quoted.
“Iran has good players, the means, the passion and the will to participate in the World Cup in Brazil.
“This is in accordance with my targets”, the 57-year-old, who is rumoured to earn 1.7 million dollars per year concluded.
Queiroz’ first task on the way to Brazil 2014 will be defeating minnows Maledives in a two-legged playoff in July.
Iran then will have to survive two group stages and possible additional playoffs in order to grab one of AFC’s 4.5 World Cup slots.
