Politics affect people, among them fans and referees.

Referees in close calls have voted against us.

Our federations run by incompetent people who many of them never played that particular sport have hurt us too.

Administrators in high positions are not bothered if we lose.

In my view, fans should take more active role, beyond posting on this site by writing. A federation receiving over 1000 emails is one way to send our message(s).

Just adding to your comment, while having bad federation is one thing, culturally we are also a bit behind from the standpoint of promoting athletics. I'm pretty old so things might have changed, by when I was young my parents nor my friends' parents ever promoted any sort of sports as a method of making a living. When your schools have 1 physical education period per week, you end up with a environment that doesn't have any grassroots physical education programs.

But then again, Iranians have become very good in a variety of sports. No Medal in Taekwondo? Well, but a Gold in Shooting! So its both positive and negative.

I would say we're a bit better than Indians when it comes to promoting sports within our families, but we have a long way to go.
In our homes, in schools, on TV, etc...

They have multiple events on different streams. I will try to share the link next time Iran plays volleyball (if CBC has the stream).

We have our mixed 10m air pistol competition now. Iran is in 11th place.

I am about as a basketball enthusiast as you can find. What will be so exciting about this match? We have a very old center, by basketball standards in Haddadi. Arsalan Kazemi has been disappointing. In fact the whole basketball team is uninspiring, at least in comparison to Europe and US standards. We will be lucky to keep the margin below 20.

Great. The Indian team is pretty good. They actually have 2 teams but the second team didn't qualify.
