Always been a shite tournament. It's a shame too because it has so much potential to be great, some real talent in here, but it just ends up being a tactical farce. Africa is a big continent so I do kind of see a need for expanding, but I also think it will dilute the little quality there already was.

CAIRO, June 23 (Reuters) - A last-minute own goal handed Morocco a narrow 1-0 victory over plucky Namibia at the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday in a far-from-convincing start from one of the pre-tournament favourites.

Looks like the football Gods repaid Morocco and Renard for their unfortunate (but welcomed) mistake of an own-goal against Iran in the WC! Good luck to them in the tournament.

Benin won 4-2 on penalties, first upset of the tournament

Ziyach just went out of gas in the final stages, missed a penalty in injury time and then skyed a shot near the six yard box in extra time

Shock defeat for Morocco against Benin in the first KO round of AFCON. They were 1 of teams slated to win the whole tournament this year. It can happen to Morocco, just like it happened to Iran. Renard is a good coach, Morocco is a good team, they just had a bad/unlucky game. Same can be said about CQ and Iran during the Asian Cup this year (Iran actually made it farther and lost to a legit continental heavyweight). The point is, all those that asked for CQ's head after the loss to Japan, should know that all great coaches/teams have failures...that's how you learn!

I think the first upset is Madagascar 2-0 Nigeria. Maybe you meant the first of the knockout stage.

I feel Herve Renard is slighty overrated. I mean just look of the crop of players he has and to lose to teams with players not as strong (e.g. Benin, Comorcos, etc...)
