Yazdani and Yakhkeshi both made it to the bronze medal match, we will have 3 wrestlers for bronze today. Haid vs Russia, Yazdani vs Russia and Yakhkeshi vs USA
Maghsoudi wrestled OK but lost to the Olympic champion 7-3, I doubt Khinchegashvili can make it to the final and even if he does. still uphill task for Maghsoudi to beat all those big names.
but Atri broke my heart once again. first he beat the Mongolian wrestler (who was #1 favorite in my opinion)thanks to UWW stupid program he had to wrestle his next match vs Belarus only 15 minutes later against someone who had bye in first round . he was down 3-1 but scored a takedown he was going to win it 3-3 but he went for a gut-wrench scored a 2 but also gave up a 2 and lost the match 5-5 . because Belarus scored the last point !! as easy as that. he just had to do nothing to win the match. 3-3 was enough and he was on top ! HE WAS ON TOP ! he just had to do nothing.
Akbari and Karimi won their first matches but Akbari didn't impress me. 2nd round will be tough for both of them

I checked to find out what was the problem. his first match was on Mat C and 2nd match on Mat B. but in Mat B we had so many quick matches and the program was way ahead of other mats in this Mat . that's why he had to wrestle without enough rest.

the solution is so simple. if one mat is way ahead. just stop it for half an hour. let all mats being on the same page. but well I'm quite sure they would do that if Russia was involved but since that was Iran. who cares. still Atri has more himself to blame. he just had to do nothing to win that match. that was a possible he just threw it away.

both Maghsoudi and Atri our out. because Khinchegasvhili and Andreyev didn't make it to the finals. for Atri he wasted a gold opportunity after beating the Mongolian.

but Karimi was on fire. the dominated the Russian wrestler. beating him by superiority 12-1. after beating Olympic Champion Sharifov 7-0. now he will wrestle J'Den Cox of USA in the smiefinal. very bad matchup for him. he is 0-2 against this guy. he lost to this guy in Rio Olympics. maybe it's time for a sweet revenge. Karimi was in great shape today

Ezzatollah Akbari also made it to the semifinal. not convincingly but he just managed to win his matches. including a last second victory over Japan. he will wrestle Jabrail Hasanov of Azerbaijan. Olympic bronze medalist but not young anymore

so we will have 5 matches in afternoon session. 3 wrestlers for bronze and 2 in semifinal

61 bronze medal match: Bagher Yakhkeshi vs Joe Colon (USA)

we will have 2 wrestlers for bronze tomorrow. Akbari vs probably Shabanov from Belarus and Karimi vs Marsagashvili from Georgia. both of them can win the bronze .

and we will have 2 more wrestlers tomorrow. brutal draw for both of them. I expect nothing from Emami and Goleij but let's see what will happen.

what a quick day. both Emami and Goleij are out in the first match. Emami lost again in the very last second. controversial call indeed. Robbery IMO but he lost to a shitty opponent . and Goleij. lost 10-0 !!! in 2 minutes.

we won't finish in top 3 in team ranking. that will be between Russia, USA and Georgia. my prediction was about winning 3 or 4 medals max and that's what we will get here. but no gold medal. very disappointing but expected. unfortunately the future also doesn't look bright in freestyle.

Just an assumption, could it be that this competition was so close after the Asian games, that some wrestlers were already exhausted before this tournament, with the new weight tests and regulations?
I don’t want to make excuses, just wondering though... What do you think?
