Winter Olympics 2018 -- Who is participating from Iran?

I realize the poor record, but are there any preparations underway for training athletes, and are there expectatons for winning medals? Any update or detail is much appreciated.

If they ever make a winter wrestling on ice, or weightlifting in snow, than we will have some chances I am sure

We usually send a few athletes in skiing. However no medals in sight!

Winter Olympic is basically made for the Nordic countries. Most of the sports are expensive and require special facility, infrastructure etc This is not to make an excuse but it will be a while before we can get to their level.

Agreed. The Winter Olympics are the rich man's Olympics.
Even most people in the "Developed" world can't afford to really participate in most of the winter sports regularly.

Even the skiers only belong to a few Families. Usually at events you would see sons and daughters of some former skiers from the distant past olympics. Future olympics we might see children of the current skiers and so forth.

Not dead but it is on hold. However we never know when they will resume again!
