I said that with this new highly-disciplined iteration of Iran, I would expect traditionally top teams such as Argentina, France, Spain etc... to struggle to break down the Iranian unit. I don't think they would beat Iran by more than one goal throughout the course of a match.

I said quite clearly that the only team that would be able to beat Iran by "A FEW GOAL MARGIN" (i.e. 3-0 or 4-0) is Germany, as their brand of devastating (not to say, quite attractive) football can stymie Iran's tight unit which would otherwise absorb sustained attacks from other nations. Iran is likely to falter under sustained pressure, CQ himself has mentioned this. This is very different from your sarcastic misinterpretation that just beating Iran means "they are good, waooo".

In the final match, the Serbian referee failed to give a straight red card to a Chilean player for his deliberate elbow foul. Even using the VAR technology he missed the call. This is the same fellow who had changed the result of Iran-Argentina game in World Cup 2014 by not awarding a clear penalty kick. FIFA needs to do some house cleaning before next Summer's tournament, or risk losing respect & credibility.

What a depth Germany has!! As their supporter since I was a kid, I am confident we can win back to back world cups. The only problem is the centre forward position. I think 2018 will be Germany vs France to win it.

Germany took a B-team with a few U-21 players and won the confederations cup. And simultaneously won the U-21 European championship with a depleted team. Even Klinsmann says they have ~50 players which they could confidently get a good world cup team from, absolutely crazy depth they have now. Mainly because they blood their youngsters well in the Bundesliga (compare with England whose clubs loan young talents to championship or league 1 sides)

They are going to make fools out of everyone else next year. I fully expect another 7-1/8-0 or whatever against a top team e.g. Argentina, England, France.

And they are probably the only team who will be able to beat CQ's disciplined Iran by a few-goal margin. So whoever gets them in the group should be scared.

They are bloody good.
