No surprise at all for me. I said and warned it last night that we haven't performed in the past 3 world champs so we shouldn't expect more than 1 gold in both wrestling types combined.
These useless wrestling world cups make people think we can sweep golds in the olympics!
Shut up you negative glory hunter. You are talking negative but when Iran wins you talk big. Just shut up. You contributed nothing to this forum with your negativy. If you leave this forum nobody will perceive it.
boro baba, *** edited *** are you mistaking me for that Narse guy? how can you not be shocked by this performance?
Wrestling rules are disgusting. Abdevali attacked and was more aggressive. Yet the ref kept penalizing him. The Dane scored the last point so that's why he won. I didn't even know of this rule. Embarrassing for the sport.
in Greco they give a point when the openent receives second penalty.
Abdevali scored first point this way, and Madsen also this way.
But the one who scores last wins. Logic being, they want the other wrestler not get lazy after 1 point lead (whether this rule makes sense or not is up for debate).
They gave the second penalty i.e. point to the Madsen, because abdevali had his head down, which can be regarded as being inactive (he was not inactive though). Thats why you hear coaches always shout at their wrestlers "HEADS UP"......!
When they gave Abdevali the point I groaned because I immediately knew that they were going to screw him over. Just lock clockwork when he stood up even though he was more active, they cautioned him twice in rapid succession and then gave the dane the point. It was very clear that this would happen, it always does.
WE NEED TO LEARN to win matches outright, not rely on the refs. The refs have never been fair to us and never will. Yes, other wrestlers don't have that burden to bear, but other wrestlers aren't middle-eastern brown men from the "Muslim lands".. Saied had two chances to flip Madsen and did nothing with both of them. If he had won the match outright, we wouldn't have to complain about this now. This was different from London '12 or the Asian Games, where he flat out won/scored points and had those points taken away by the refs. He also did nothing with the last ten seconds. We have had Iranian wrestlers lose in the last 5-10 seconds so clearly it can be done.
Anyways, good luck to both our wrestlers in repechage if they make it.
I wasn't thinking our medals were coming in Greco...although I was hopeful for Sourian. Abdevali got the world #3...tough regardless. Freestyle is where Iran can have magic.
