Ya but what the f does Abu Dhabi have to with the Bernabeu? Just name the stadium Abu Dhabi Stadium or something else...Money certain does talk, and you are right, but it's just hard to connect the two. We don't call teams Fly Emirates Real Madrid...we just call them Real Madrid and plaster that advertisement on the kids...stadiums should be the same deal.

Well, its a sponsorship deal. Etihad (owned by Sheikh Mansour) sponsored City and now its called the Etihad Stadium.
Emirates sponsored Arsenal and their stadium is called Emirates Stadium.
Whats the big deal?
Its the same thing in the states, Bank of America Arena, CitiField, Mercedes SuperDome, Ford Field, Comerica Arena... etc
Whats the difference? Just because its now an arab company? If i were sponsoring Madrid for 800 million over 10 years, the stadium better be called Sam Bernabeu. Its a marketing scheme by the Abu Dhabi tourism agency, similar to what they have in agreement with City.
If you ask me, we are the dumb ones for criticizing them and not doing anything ourselves(by we i mean Iran). Didn't Azerbaijan do the same thing with Atletico?

The difference is, that Abu Dhabi Santiago Bernabeu sounds plain stupid, it's waaay to long a name.Originally posted by CHaMiLLionaire View PostWell, its a sponsorship deal. Etihad (owned by Sheikh Mansour) sponsored City and now its called the Etihad Stadium.

difference is the arabs will soon make everyone wear hijab and prayer before games
also, azerbaijan's people are starving yet they spend money on that....most azeris arent really happy or could care less about those sponsorship deals.
p.s. its just funny cuz its arabs

Please, do tell me more about those million Euro loans Real Madrid has got from European banks, now forcing them to rename their stadium to Abu Tokhmi..Originally posted by irani1378 View Postno its for the stadium. Those "overpriced" players who win champions leagues buy their transfer worth back with jersey sales in less than 1 month.

I get the sponsorship deal. Just call the Stadium Abu Dhabi Stadium. Why try to keep the historical aspect of the name with this new name...in fact, it prob hurts the sponsor as people will be to lazy to read out the full name (I am avoiding typing it for the same reason).Originally posted by CHaMiLLionaire View PostWell, its a sponsorship deal. Also, right now, the economic and political climate (i.e., sanctions) would not permit Iranian companies or entities to plaster their logos on outside organizations. It might be wise for tourism purposes and so forth, but let's be real, how many people would fly Iran Air, or visit lovely Qom besides Iranians at present?

CL money is nothing compared to what they pay for players. winning CL could earn you something like 50-60 mil. and they barely won after a long time. doubt they can repeat this year.Originally posted by irani1378 View Postno its for the stadium.
