A fact you may enjoy. I spent a summer in Cambridge/Boston a few years ago. All the Bank Machines (ATM) were in English and Portuguese. Most other places in the US things are in English and Spanish.Originally posted by Asghar Agha View PostKiarash jan, they have been for many years pathetic.
Are there many Portuguese in the Netherlands?
Oddly, in Germany they were in German and Turkish, but no English.
and in Republika Srbska everything is in Serbian Cyrillic, no Latin or anything understandable by any kind of outsider.راه یکی است و آن راستی است

Very surprise about Cambridge. Didn't know there was a massive Lusophone population there. Brazilians or Portuguese?
However not surprising to hear about Germany.
The last one is the most interesting. lol

I am not really sure if there were more Brazilian or Portuguese. I know there are many people of Portuguese descent in the north east of the USA, but not sure how well the language has remained on the tongues of the descendents to merit ATMs in Portuguese.Originally posted by Asghar Agha View PostVery interesting.

I just looked up the official info, 10% of Boston population is from Brazil or Cape Verde, both Portuguese speaking places.Originally posted by rugs View PostA fact you may enjoy. I could guess it. Most criminals in Cabo Verde are Cabo Verdean-Americans from Boston.Originally posted by KeonKish View PostI just looked up the official info, 10% of Boston population is from Brazil or Cape Verde, both Portuguese speaking places.

That's crazy. I never thought it would be that much. I guess it explains the ATMs.راه یکی است و آن راستی است
