i think he is indeed iranian

His father was Iranian... an olympic boxer in the 50's. Andre is not an iranian. If a person is not proud enough to acknowledge, note, and learn about their culture, they are not Iranian. He is a fantastic tennis player, but he is not a hamvatan.
